Sunriseglory paced, kicking up dirt as he did, claws unsheathed, scraping against the ground. Xyr anger boiling over. Spilling over the edge. It was itching to let loose. Get his anger out. Without thinking Sunrise pulled the bottle that clung to his wrist by a ribbon and shoved it at an nearby rock, the bottle instantly shattering, it remains scattered across the ground. Sunriseglory glared at the glass and the trinkets that xe had collected. His gaze softened at the sight of a flash of blue and gold. The butterfly… HIS butterfly! The lifeless insect lay motionless at the top of the reck, tormenting the warrior with it’s beauty. Sunrise sighed, taking a small step toward the butterfly. There was a sudden stab of pain in Sunny’s paw. As he looked down he could see a shard of glass piercing into his paw pad, bright red bl00d escaping his paw. Sunrise yelped, stumbling back as a gust of wind ruffled this fur. Sunny bit back tears as a stinging pain came over his paw. Out of the corner of its eyes, Sunriseglory saw the familiar flash of blue and gold flutter into the sky. no nono No NO! Sunny leaped over the destroyed bottle, tumbling at a sudden shock of pain came over his injury. Sunrise winced as he quickly got back to his paws, trying to catch up to the butterfly that seemed to circle just out of reach. Xe jumped up, waving his uninjured paw at the winged beauty just to fall back to the ground. Sunrise yelped again, helplessly reaching a paw out as the butterfly disappeared into the horizon. no… Sunrise curled himself into a ball-like shape, perfectly hidden in the dusty landscape. He has lost it. He… had really lost him… Tears burned down the moddled warrior’s face. COWARD! WHY?! SUCH A COWARD!! NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED! NONE OF IT! IF HE HAD JUST… just took a chance. EVerything would have been FINE if xe had just… been brave. He was such a coward… coward coward COWARD! Many moments… maybe moons passed… Before an abrupt pain shook Sunny, forcing it back to its paws. Xe shakely stood, staring down at the fragment of glass dug into xyr paw. Sunrise narrowed its eyes at the glass before bitting down on the shard and ripping it out of its paw. Sunny didn’t even flinch. He had no reason to. It hurt. But not more than losing… Sunriseglory fought to urge to limp under the weight of their pain but kept a straight face as it stalked back to what was left of his glass bottle, a further distance than he expected. Xe worked xyr way toward the worthless objects the were left, carefully avioding other pieces of glass scattered around xem. Sunriseglory picked through the trickets, setting eyes on a large piece of a crushed cicada wing, many smaller pieces around it. Ugh, why did he even keep something so… meaningless. The cicadas were such a past thing. Sure, he saw them every once in a while but they weren’t a problem anymore. And even if they were… well, they wouldn’t be for long. He moved on. Next, looking at a beetle wing. A large crack running through it, almost tearing the poor thing in half. Sure, it had been pretty at first, so much potential, at least… for the beetle it might have been useful. But now… pointless junk! Next… A flower petal. Just a single one. It had been in this thing so long… so long it started to decay… once a part of something beautiful. But now… nothing but a lonely leaf… Worthless! All of it! A chunk of obsidian, fern leaves, a ladybug wing, a strand of faded blue ribbon, a yellow feather Pebbles, rocks, small stones, only large enough to be seen… All forgotten… Meaningless conflicts… Worthless beings… Useless things Sunriseglory moved to a small stone. A ragged surface, full of cracks… It was barely even the size of Sunrise’s claw. Barely even big enough to matter… A flake of ash fluttered just outside of the mass. It looked… so calm in the mess… yet. Sunny knew the truth. It was just the remnants of something, once great now burn and withered into nothing. A thing less than anything. The final object shown at the bottom of the stack. Wood. A single stick. Sunrise snarled at the timber before unburying the stick and holding it in xyr paw. It curled its red and gold tail in front of it, carefully lighting the branch with its flames. It was this ones fault. Everything was HIS fault. Sunrise dropped the burning stick onto the broken pile. Everything would have been fine! PREFECT if it wasn’t for him!! Sunriseglory turned away, standing back on xyr paws. A shimmer of light caught his eye, turning back to the flaming junk. A moon shaped crystal completed by a strand of white ribbon wrapping around it. Xe had completely forgotten about that. A gift from the cave. The fire reflecting light off it creating a ocean-like scene. No. Not just yet… Sunrise quickly pawed the stone out of the flames and hung the string around his neck, the moonstone laying gently against it chest. You’re not forgetten just yet…
