|꩜✧ disability research ✧꩜| sadly i didn't have much space on cobweb's application to write research for him, so i've decided to put it here instead, hope that's fine! ⋆» folded ears cobweb has adorable folded ears, and as charming as they are, they don’t come without their health issues. he has osteochondrodysplasia (also known as scottish fold disease), a general term for disorder of the bone and cartilage, that all cats with folded ears have. web is heterozygous, meaning he has one mutant gene as opposed to two, so the worsening in his condition is slowed. (i’ve chosen to make him heterozygous, but if the litter host or designer of the kit confirm that he is homozygous, research will be slightly altered) he will inevitably develop arthritis, mainly affecting his hip, knees, spine, and ankles. his pain is relatively mild, but as he grows older, strenuous activity will cause him more and more discomfort. his joints are less flexible, and he’ll have trouble cleaning his fur on his own. kittens’ ears are born straight, but quickly begin to fold at around one month of age, so when i start roleplaying with cobweb his ears would have folded already. his folded ears don't directly effect his hearing, but it is far more difficult for him to clean them, so it can potentially lead to dirt or wax accumulation and infection. as cobweb ages, i’ll try my best to rp the effects of his condition, but won’t go too in depth with it. sources ✩》 https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/genetic/osteochondrodysplasia-cats https://icatcare.org/advice/scottish-fold-disease-osteochondrodysplasia/ https://www.ufaw.org.uk/cats/scottish-fold-osteochondrodysplasia ⋆» bobtail cobweb’s bobtail doesn’t affect him much, though it does make him more susceptible to diseases of the spine, hip, or nerves, as well as hip dysplasia. he won’t have any issues from his tail, as that is what ive gathered from research. if this is inaccurate, please let me know, as i unfortunately couldn’t find many sources or websites on cats with bobtails. sources ✩》 https://icatcare.org/advice/american-bobtail/ https://www.litter-robot.com/blog/bobtail-cats-without-tails/#:~:text=Fortunately%2C%20bobtails%20generally%20don't,specialized%20treatments%20by%20a%20veterinarian. |★- - - - - - - - - - ★ - - - - - - - - - -★|
