The 1994-1996 Vonian War was one that Transevia did not expect to win. Still suffering from the recent war with Malbekia, it was thought that Vonia had the upper hand thanks to their large Navy. However, the F-104Cs that the Vonian Aerial Flight Corps still operated were woefully outdated compared to the recently acquired MiP-29s the TAF flew alongside heavily modernised MiP-21bis jets, leading to many Vonian ports and airbases being crippled. The Vonian War would be a decisive Transevian victory. This war was also seen as the swansong for the TAF's MiP-23 fleet, which would be retired shortly after the war's end.
You are watching footage captured from the targeting pod of a MiP-23MLA flown by Flight Lieutenant Vladimir Gorsky, a fighter ace of the Malbek-Transevian War. The target is VAFC Alveo, an airbase located near the northern coast of Vonia, a very strategic location in the war. This strike crippled much of the Vonian bomber fleet and was a key event in turning the tide towards the Transevians. Aall of the VAFC personnel at the base were luckily fast asleep in the baracks, far from the hangars and location of the strike. (yes, the MiG-23 carried Kh-23 A2G missiles and not Kh-25s... Transevian modifications?)
