hey guys im have surgery near halloween time So, any die-hard fan of me (nobody) would know I have pectus excavation. If you think I have the ribcage because haha random, no, I don't, it's to show what pectus is. So, the costal cartilage (label on bottom right) would usually protrude out from the chest, but with pectus the cartilage at the top sinks into it. this leads the sternum (label on top right) to be inside the ribcage and put pressure on the heart and lungs. A severe would be a 2.5 on the Haller index, (distance of the inside ribcage divided by distance between the sternal notch and vertebrae) while mine is a 7. Luckily, cartilage is easy to mold (it's the same stuff in your ear or nose) so the surgery is simply putting a metal bar in there to mold it back into normal shape. Then after 7 years it gets taken out, but the pectus will still be a little there. I do brag about it a lot so that's actually great news. Apparently, most people with pectus are self-conscious about it. It also doesn't hurt that much, it's 1-2 weeks just doing Ibuprofen and Tylenol. The only thing I really care about is getting Ever Oasis on the 3DS out of sympathy. Of course I care about 3DS games more than my life.
