Instructions

Pearl awoke on a bed in a room she has never been in before. Startled, she jumped up from the bed and looked around. Lamps, Furniture, ... a half-eaten pizza slice on the floor? " Land serpents!" Pearl thought. " They've captured me!" Suddenly, pearl heard the doorknob click and two people walked in. " Glad to see you're awake!" Alex said. " Who is this girl?!" Pearl thought. " How are you feeling?" Ryan asked. " WHO are you and WHY am I here!?" Pearl snapped. " Oh, I'm Alexandra! But you can call me Alex. Oh, and this is Ryan!" Alex replied. Pearl magically took the water from the rose vase and held it above her head. Alex and Ryan stared at her in awe. " Release me!" Pearl demanded. Ryan and Alex looked confused. Pearl splashed the water on them and jumped out the window onto the deck. The small house was on a beach. " Where am I?" Pearl gasped. " Carter Beach!" Alex replied poking her head out the window. Pearl jumped off the deck and onto the beach. She looked at the polluted beach with mounds of trash. " No...." Pearl breathed. How could people do this to the ocean. Pearl turned around, her blood boiling, with a piqued look in her eyes. " WHY IS THE OCEAN LIKE THIS!?" Pearl screamed. " Woah woah!" Ryan said running out onto the deck. He held his arms out as if to say, 'Stop!'. " It OK! Me and Alex are trying to get RID of pollution! See that machine out there?" Pearl turned around and squinted at what looked like a submarine. It glided across the ocean slurping up trash and crushing it. Pearl anger depleted to a hint of thankfulness. " I'm sorry..." Pearl said hanging her head. " This place isn't what I expected... at all." " We protect the ocean from pollution." Alex said walking out onto the deck and next to Ryan. " We don't do this... other people do." Alex cringed at the words 'other people'. " Let's not get into it right now..." Ryan said looking annoyed and angry as he glared at the ground. He looked back up at Pearl's clothes and smiled. " What we really need to get into is how to make you look... normal." Ryan looked like he was trying to hold back a laugh. Pearl was wearing a pink shirt with sparkles and pearls at the trim. Her skirt was blue with pearls at the bottom of it. She giggled sheepishly. " TO THE MALL!" Alex exclaimed putting her finger in the air. Pearl didn't really know what a mall was but before she could say anything, Alex and Ryan each grabbed her by an arm and pushed her along. Humans, Pearl thought. Who knew?
