Tips for Scratchers from a Scratch veteran: If anyone asks, say "Scratch is a program run by MIT to teach kids how to create through programming." It worked for me (see Notes and Credits) Remember, likes don't matter. Period. Your Forum Clout (TM) does matter though! Use my Forum Clout Calculator today! Don't get caught up in the Scratch community. Most likely you'll be arguing either with a 6-10 year old or a creepy adult. You'll have better memories of Scratch if you spend your time productively instead of bickering about drama. If you're building a project that Scratch can't handle, don't be afraid to continue your work elsewhere. Scratch is just a tool, and will be there if you need it again. Don't doom scroll TikTok or Youtube Shorts 24/7. If you feel like Scratch is too easy, or you simply ran out of ideas for projects but still want to code, try a LeetCode problem. Each problem will take at max an hour, and helps with your resume if you decide to go into a programming based career. BTW I might come back for a little this summer. Maybe. Bottom text gang
I'd figure I'd add some fun facts about me you may not have known, kind of like an end credits scene: Being on Scratch actually got me a scholarship. My coding experience allowed me to rise to the top of my fifth grade class, which gave me a scholarship to a private school in New York (not named for my confidentiality). I had to reject it though, because my family was moving to Massachusetts. I didn't know I could be paid 10k a year for posting memes on a website for kids. In hindsight my school probably saw it as me learning ahead. My username, WatchAndGame, is Game And Watch backwards, as in the character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I don't play him, I just like the name. TeamSteve Studios was originally a group my online friends that built a Minecraft server together with me on Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition (not Bedrock Edition). They didn't use Scratch, so I just stole the name and used it here. I have a secret account, named ForgeDemon. I was working on a big game that I wanted to keep separate from this account, but then life happened, and i stopped working on it. I taught myself calculus and some number theory over the three years I've been off Scratch. I originally joined Scratch to animate. My OC (the guy in my pfp) is white. I'm actually Dominican. This is because he was inspired by Harold Hutchins from Captain Underpants. Canonically, my OC wears a red turtleneck and some kind of blue pants (jeans if i remember correctly). I got 400+ views on a project :D I hope to go to MIT for some kind of engineering degree. the fact that Scratch is made by MIT might actually help me in the admissions process, given that I have at least 1000 hours on it. My science teacher gave me a micro:bit as a parting gift. I have it right beside my bed to remind myself of my potential to learn something new. ... Its hard to say goodbye... but I remember what I heard long ago: "When one story ends, another one begins." - Minecraft Story Mode That's about it, see ya.
