She was made for a story (that never ended up being made) She (and everyone else at the camp she goes to) have animal masks like this to symbolise their connection to the gods that run the camp. There’s a hyena god, a fox god, a rabbit god, and some others (I just forgot) Verity has a fennec fox mask!
