This bomber joined the 341st BS/97th BG in mid-1943 (top) and flew into 1944 (bottom). On 23 June 1944 it was on a mission to Ploesti when it was damaged by flak and fighters. Bombardier 2Lt David R Kingsley was helping the wounded tail gunner, whose parachute was gone. So Kingsley gave up his parachute and the crew bailed out without him. For his selfless act, Kingsley was given the Medal of Honor posthumously.
