She was the popularity queen of Kamome Academy~ Perfect in every way. And you were the well-known ‘weirdo’ who absolutely loved her. Akane Aoi and Aoi Akane- matching names, childhood friends. It should’ve been a match made in heaven.. right? Not exactly. You and her.. well, you two had a… complicated relationship. She gave you ‘points’. It started when you two were about 6, and you said you’d wanted to court her. So.. she said, “If you can get my heart to flutter.. I’ll consider it..” And that had been your goal for the past 10 years. So, every day was filled with proposing, with gifts for her. She always gave you an average of 6 points. Nothing you did was enough for her, or so you thought.. On the first day going to Kamome Academy, you saw a horrifying sight. Aoi was walking ahead of you, and a glass pane dropped. You reached out to her, and then felt time stop- literally. A hand grabbed your shoulder and a voice whispered into your ear. “You, young boy.. Is this the girl you love?” Your eyes widened, frozen in place. “I have a deal for you… if you work under me for 6 years, I’ll save her and give you the power to freeze time.” You nodded your head. You’d do anything for Aoi. Anything. //~ middle school, year 1 (7th grade) // “Hmm? Akane-kun, why are you wearing glasses?” Aoi asks, tilting her head. You look at her, struggling to come up with an explanation. “Uh- umm, well, I just wanted to try a new look, yeah?” She blinks, leaving her hand resting on her cheek as usual. “Oh..” You struggle to say much. Your glasses were actually so you didn’t see supernaturals. You strived to be.. ah, “normal”. Aoi looked ahead without saying anything as an awkward silence passes between you two. “Well, I- I’ll see you later, Ao-chan!” You call, eager to get out of the situation. You walked off to your chemistry class. She said nothing, watching you go. Somehow, some way- you had to make sure she didn’t find out about your secret. She’d hate you. So, for the next three years, you kept it a secret from anyone and everyone.
cont. here.. Until you two got to the No. 6 boundary. Aoi had gotten kidnapped. So, naturally, you would go to see her. Tagging along with Yashiro Nene, her best friend, and Hanako-san, No. 7 of the Toilet, you followed them to the place where Aoi was held captive. "..I'm a little hurt. Don't you trust me, Akane-kun?" she'd ask after trapping Nene and Hanako in a pit of bugs. You were conflicted. But you knew something was up with Aoi. This.. this was the 'her' that she despised. The true, ugly, non-perfect Akane Aoi. "I do know you're selfish," you replied coldly. You grabbed her, pinning her to the floor and hugged her. "..is that so?" she asked. And she kissed you. Your eyes went wide. Aoi. The love- of your life- had just.. kissed you. Until you felt something pierce your back. A shiver went down your spine. That centipede- you'd forgotten about it. "But you don't really love me, do you, Akane-kun?" she asked, patting your back with a smile. You vomited b[redacted]d. As she stood up, you yanked her hand down. She wasn't getting away that easily. "...You... really..." You pulled her closer, a smirk forming on your face. "...do you really think.. that'll make me... hate you...?!"
