Chapter 2~The Move In The next day, as promised, Lucy walked into the cafe exactly 24 hours later. She found Lowell in the same corner as before. He looked up and smiled, closing his book. “Ready?” Lucy nodded once. “Yes.” Lowell nodded too, “Alright then, let’s go.” He held the door open for Lucy and the two began the walk to Lowell’s bookstore. Lucy was nervous, and when she got nervous, she talked. “So what are you then? And how old are you? Is Lowell your first or your last name?” Lowell chuckled. “I’m a Vampire and Kelpie. I’m eternally 36 and Lowell is my last name. My first name is Phinneas. You can call me Finn, though, if you prefer.” Lucy smiled. “I like Finn.” Once they arrived, Finn dug a key from his pocket and opened the vast wood and glass double doors. “After you.” Lucy walked in and instantly her breath was gone. There were books everywhere. From floor to ceiling, on the floor, in the windows. She’d never had more than six books in her room at one time, this was a dream come true to her. “You seriously live here?” “I do. Want me to show you to your room?” Lucy nodded, lost for words. Was this actually going to be her life from now on? She followed Finn up the stairs and into the first door on the left. Lucy gasped when she saw the room. “This is amazing.” She turned to look up at Finn. “This is all for me?” Finn smiled. “It is. The bathroom is stocked with things I thought you may need or like. I took the liberty of stocking the closet for you too, lots of options. And whatever else you want or need, just ask.” Lucy was speechless. She settled on dropping her bag on the floor and hugging Finn. “Thank you.” Finn hugged Lucy back. “You’re welcome kiddo.” After a few moments he pulled back. “I’ll leave you to explore and get settled then.” “Are there any rules I need to know to obey?” Finn shook his head. “Not really. Nothing is off limits but if you decide to leave, at least be back at a reasonable time. And once you get settled in, if you’d like to work here at the store I can arrange that. But like I said, if you need or want anything, just ask.” Lucy nodded. “Thank you again, Finn. You have no idea how much this means to me.” “You are very welcome Lucy. Before I go, any special requests for dinner?” “Spaghetti?” Finn chuckled. “Of course. I’ll come get you when it’s ready.” He walked off back down the stairs, leaving Lucy on her own. She turned her attention back to the room and shook her head in disbelief. This whole thing was for her? To the right of the door was a white, two-drawer nightstand and a bed with a matching nightstand on the other side of it. Across from the foot of the bed was a wooden desk that had many drawers and was stocked with all sorts of supplies. There was a white, six shelf bookcase that was decorated in books and trinkets. Lucy decided to take a peek in the closet. She gasped when she opened it. Finn really had stocked it. There was all sorts of different T-shirts, dresses, jeans, and shorts, jackets and shoes. How Finn had the time to find all of this in hardly 24 hours, Lucy had no idea. But it meant the world to her.
