Chapter 13-The Pocket Mirror and Its Functions Another reason the Research Classes were cancelled during the Christmas holidays were because other problems. The petrification attacks were getting more frequent. "These are all caused by the monster in the Chamber of Secrets!" Jacqueline told her, "Salazar Slytherin hated Muggle-borns, so he left the monster to attack and perhaps k!ll all Muggle-borns!" Despite knowing that she wasn't a Muggle-born, Rosalia felt anxious. She had thought that she was Muggle-born, so there wasn't a reason the monster didn't think that as well. But that wasn't her only problem. It seemed like Terry and Anthony were getting angrier with each other by each day. Under all the stress, she remembered something. It started when she was in her dorm and came across her emerald green pocket mirror. "Open it when you are distressed" she remembered Professor Flitwick saying. "I guess I am distressed..." she said to herself. She opened it slowly, then she felt a huge gust of wind blow through. She felt her body get distorted, and heading into the pocket mirror, as if trying to get in. "What is happening?!" she screamed as her body fully got taken inside. When she opened her eyes, she was in a different place. But it wasn't unfamiliar. "Come, Josie!" a woman's voice said. It was the most recognizable voice. "It's time to place the star on the Christmas tree!" a man's voice said. It was recognizable, too; they were her adoptive parents' voices. Then, a five-year-old girl ran by, her raven black hair flowing behind. Her dad lifted her up as she gently placed a golden plastic star. "It's beautiful!" her mum said. "Just like my two favorite girls!" her dad said. Rosalia realized she could not be both seen nor heard. Then, the similar gust of wind blew through and she was taken out of the memory. She looked around again, she was in the dorm. "That was..." Rosalia said slowly. "Incredible!" She turned around to see Luna. "How did that happen?" Luna asked. "I-I'm not sure..." "Well, maybe it's some kind of spell that finds your happiest memories." "I suppose so," Rosalia replied, "Keep this a secret?" "Of course! Also, here, Quibbler." Luna said, handing her a magazine with a picture of some kind of tiara with a big blue gem and little diamonds. "Is that the Diadem of Ravenclaw?" she asked Luna. She nodded. "Father's trying to recreate it because it's lost." she said, "He says he had already finished the shape, now, he only needs to enchant it." "Is that even possible? Does he know the spell?" Rosalia asked. "Yes and no," replied Luna, "Of course it is possible. Yet, he doesn't know how yet." "Intriguing..." Rosalia replied, slightly confused. "Also, have you seen the Great Hall?" Luna asked her excitedly. "No, why?" Rosalia answered. "It's beautiful! Come!" Luna took her arm and lead her to the Great Hall, which was even more beautiful than she remembered. The Christmas tree was enormous, the decorations was so beautiful that it seemed like it was made of magic (in which Rosalia reminded herself that she was in a world of magic), and the music was calming and wonderful. "T-this is wonderful!" she stuttered in her sentence out of amazement. "I know!" Luna replied, "Hogwarts is such a beautiful place." "It definitely is!" she replied back, "I had no idea the Wizarding world could be this wonderful!" "I'm going to get some pudding." Luna told her as she left. Rosalia stared at the Christmas tree for a bit. She had never seen such beautiful and huge Christmas tree. "What a wonder..." she muttered dreamily to herself. "Hello!" she knew that voice. She closed her eyes in sheer desperation. "Hello, Terry," she said while turning around, her tone giving a slight sign of sadness. "How have you been?" he asked. "Well!" replied Rosalia, and she dropped her voice to a soft whisper "Until you came..." "Wonderful to hear that!" Terry replied. "Anyway, I've got to go over there to my friend! See you soon!" "Hopefully not too soon," she said to herself after he was far away. She reached the table with not only pudding, but cake and sweets were there as well. "Can you hide me from Terry and Anthony?" she asked her. "Perhaps I could..." Luna replied, "Perhaps I can't." Rosalia sighed. "To hopefully avoid them, I'll go to our dorm." Rosalia said. "Alright," replied Luna, "Bring some pie with you." She gave her a slice of pie. "Thanks" She ran out the Great Hall while trying to balance her pie on her plate. She was in fact doing quite well. She was very focused on the pie and didn't notice that a pink haired girl was coming in her direction and then.. Splat! The pie landed on the girl's Hufflepuff robe. "Oh my Merlin!" Rosalia shouted apologetically, "I am so very—" "Don't be sorry!" the girl replied with a grin, "At least none of us got hurt!" "I'm still very sorry!" (Rest in the notes and credits)
"Oh my gosh, Rosalia, you're getting more and more clumsy!" she thought. "It's alright!" the girl replied, "I'm Myst Quin by the way!" "Rosalia Estelle," replied Rosalia, "Are you a Metamorphmagus?" "Yes! What do you like to do?" "Reading and writing stories, and you?" "Trying to make spells, no luck sadly, reading history books, and singing." "Interesting!" "Well, I've got to go back to the Hufflepuff common room. See you soon?" "Sounds wonderful!" She turned around and was about to take a step when she heard Myst's voice. "Are we friends?" Myst asked. "Yes!" replied Rosalia. And they both went back to their common rooms. "Another friend, it seems." she thought, "And before coming to Hogwarts I thought I would get none. It's interesting how life works." And with that, she went back to her common room and into her dorm. "I made a new friend!" she wrote in her diary, "Her name's Myst Quin, and she's in Hufflepuff! I'm very happy here at Hogwarts. There's so many wonderful things and so many wonderful people! I hope it'll be a long time before I graduate!" She closed her diary and looked out the window; it was dark. "The day's almost coming to an end..." she said to herself, "Another day, another story." ✧✦✧ Author's note: Hi, guys!
