The war has begun. Multiple news groups out of Brightsburg have confirmed what many have feared; Open combat between General Belinsky and his Grenadier Guard and the Democratic Government aided by the Imperial Army, is in full swing in the capital city of Yubileynyy. Only mere days after the proclamation of the Democratic Republic of Brightsburg, Major General Belinsky Olzekavich led a march on the parliament building in Yubileynyy with his loyal legion of Grenadier Guards. The force marched through the city unopposed, with the city police and milita being threatened into submission. After an hour, the Grenadiers entered the parliament building, but once inside the building a standoff ensued. General Belinsky demanded the government powers be handed over to him, while a negotiator from the Government attempted to reason with him. In reality, this was only to stall time for the Tsarina, the President, and the Prime Minster to escape the city. Nobody is sure who caused it, but a shot rang out and the Army opened fire on the Grenadiers, causing a firefight to break out. General Belinsky was rushed out of the building by two Grenadiers, but he was shot in the gut in the confusion. Thanks to their superior training, the Grenadier Guardsmen quickly dispatched the defenders and began storming the building in search of the Tsarina, President Alder, and Prime Minster Kuznetsov. The Grenadiers were slowly picked off during the grueling indoors combat, some even resorting to hand-to-hand combat in the melee. The Grenadiers were forced to retreat from the Parliament building because of heavy casualties inflicted by the defenders, this merely being a Pyrrhic victory for the Democratic Government however. All across the city, General Belinsky and his Grenadiers massacred the confused and dazed Imperial Army, any resistance being stomped out with no remorse. Even elements of the Imperial Army who sided with Belinsky were targeted, showing how the battle was too confusing and intense to tell friend from foe. Within an hours time the city fell to General Belinksy and the Imperial Grenadier Guard. Only one stronghold was left, however, that being those held up in the Parliament building. The Grenadiers rolled out artillery pieces and began shelling the building. Thanks to the tight urban area, some shells missed the Parliament building and landed in civilian homes and facilities. Eventually after firing shell after shell into the Parliament building, the defenders emerged waving a white flag. After a short interrogation on the whereabouts of the President and his clique, they were executed in the rubble of the Parliament building. No-one is sure about a lot of things as of this moment, the whereabouts of the Tsarina, the President, and the Prime Minster are a mystery. As well, even though Belinsky and his entourage were successful in taking the capital, the rest of the nation is yet to respond to his coup. Whether they will side with his new government or not is yet to be seen, but future of Brightsia is uncertain.
