The "Imperatorskaya Armiya Tsarya" in Brightsian, or in Commonspeak, "Imperial Army of the Tsar" (Commonly shortened to "The Imperial Army"), is the standing army of the Tsardom of Brightsia. Although it is the largest fighting force in the world, it is wrought with severe internal corruption and is handicapped with outdated equipment. Established shortly after the Grand Duchy of Yubileynyy unified Brightsburg in 1730 and declared the Tsardom of Brightsia, the Imperial Army began as an unruly group of Mercenaries and Militia. However, the nearby Kingdom of Retentia saw the infant Tsardom as a potential ally, and sent military advisors to whip the Imperial Army into shape. By the dawn of the 1800's, the Imperial Army had become one of the most prestigious fighting forces in the world, with ingenious generals and a competent infantry pool. But as time passed forward, the Army was neglected so the government could focus on other matters. Naturally, the great generals of the Army grew old and were replaced by the sons of nobles seeking to raise their social standing rather than become a grand tactician.
