History: The NPB-5 Gallus is based off of the NP-14 Callgerin airframe with many major modifications. First and foremost, the fuselage was elongated, the wings were lengthened and the tail was made larger. It is noted that the NPB-5 has the same power plant as the NP-14, but it is much heavier, which means reduced speed and power output. It has a 3 man crew, a pilot, navigator/bombardier and a gunner. The gunner handles both the rearward and ventral guns, the latter of which was a new concept for bombers at the time. The NPB-5 also has two small windows located just above and ahead of the wings for the navigator to duck down and look through during bombing runs. Armed with two nose mounted 30.cal machine guns, much like the NP-14, the NPB-5 is also equipped with a long ranged scope sight, though the NPB-5's sight is much larger and longer, with more magnification. The NPB-5 has a fixed landing gear and externally mounted bomb bay, capable of 600 lbs worth of bombs. ---------------- Specs: Engine: 1 Air intake Nisekium charged air compressor Crew: 3 Armament: 4 30.cal machine guns, 600 lbs of bombs Length: 10.1m
