1,021 words! Hi there everyone! I’m called Soki online, or perhaps one of many silly nicknames if you feel so inclined, and I use she/they pronouns. I’m an autistic sci-fi and social sciences nerd who gets obsessed with things like the average person breathes. I attempt to write a one thousand word intro every session but my success rate is unfortunately not the highest. This year I am probably just going to ramble about the most mundane and uninteresting things that occur to me as well as some things you’ll find fascinating I hope so feel free to read and I hope you don’t get bored. I’ve been in SWC every session since July 2021 which makes this my eleventh session! I’ve been a leader for seven of those, a co-leader for two, and this is my second session as a camper. In July 2021 I was a camper in the Real-Fi Family Reunion which was lead by Bright, Elle, and Wishes. In November 2021 I was the leader of the Thriller Detective Agency (or Thrillee Dective Ahenvy) and my co-leaders were Luna and Sai. Together we made up the blackmail trio. In March 2022 I was the leader of the Sci-Fi Space Wreck and my co-leaders were Aspen, Waterfall, and Sai. In July 2022 I was the leader of the Adventure Parks and my co-leaders were Dawn and Jess. In November 2022 I was the leader of the Bi-Fi Cinema and my co-leaders were Stingray, Skye, and Mayhem. In March 2023, I was the co-leader of the Fantasy Wishing Well along with River, and Lio was our leader. In the July 2023 mega session I was the leader of the Script Circus and Katie was my co-leader. In November 2023 I was the leader of The Voyages of Folklore and my co-leaders were Alex and Bee. In March 2024 I was the leader of the Fanfiction Variance Authority and my co-leaders were Vi, Nini, and Bookie. And last session in July 2024 I was the co-leader of the Non-Fi Parliament along with Willow and May, and our leader was Finley. This session I’m a camper in the Arcane Steampunk which is lead by Luna and co-lead by Snowy and Reese and I’m very excited for all the amazing memories I’m about to gain! +
+ SWC is the main thing I do on Scratch, but I have also participated in other camps, notably being a regular camper in SAC and a host of SRC. I am also an active member of Scratch’s neurodiversity community, and I even had a studio of mine featured for Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month back in 2023! I used to also be really interested in roleplaying here but I sort of fell out of that a few years ago. Recently I’ve been trying to get back into the roleplaying community (with limited success which is entirely my fault) because I do really enjoy it. As for my offline life, I live on a small farm in Ontario, Canada with my mom, my siblings, about a dozen pets including cats, dogs, and chickens, and about a million bees. Until this year I was homeschooled, but I decided to go to public school for my senior year of high school for the experience and the benefits of having a diploma. My hobbies include creative writing (obviously), journaling, basically any kind of art, various fandom related activities, and helping out in my community. I’ve been journaling daily for six years this month and on-and-off for four years before that, and writing and making art on a nearly daily basis for twelve years. I have an account on Archive of Our Own that I barely post on shhh but I find it a lot of fun when I do. For community n the past year I’ve worked with my local newspaper, my local youth centre, a local organization dedicated to reducing risk behaviours in youth by expanding community resources, Toastmasters International, OneChild, the Student’s Commission of Canada, and the Canadian Centre For Diversity and Inclusion’s National Youth Ambassador Network which I am a member of. My main fandoms at the moment are Harry Potter (specifically the Marauders), Star Wars, Marvel, X-men, Doctor Who/Torchwood, Good Omens, anything to do with mythology, and basically any book I can get my hands on. My reading goal for this year was fifty books and I surpassed that in July. I’m also very much an enjoyer of all sorts of music no matter what time place or genre it originates from, but I do happen to have a special affection for classic rock. I’d love to talk to you about any of these or whatever it is you’re currently interested in! But be warned if you strike up a conversation with me I am unlikely to shut up for quite some time. My plan for the future is currently to graduate high school this spring, and then take a gap year before studying for a bachelor of arts in psychology. The specifics of this are all still a little up in the air but I am excited to see where the future takes me, both short term and long term! The problem with the future is that it means I don’t have long left to be here in SWC or even on Scratch as a whole, which I am very sad about, but it is unfortunately inevitable. That’s why I’m hoping to make the most out of every moment of this session as there is a pretty decent chance it’s going to be my last. (Though I have been saying that for several sessions at this point and I always end up deciding to come back do we’ll see what happens). In the meantime I hope you all have an amazing SWC! If anyone wants to reach out and chat please do! I’m always in the mood for making new friends or talking to old ones, especially if they happen to be SWC-ers. And if you have any SWC questions there’s a pretty good chance I know the answers to them as well. Happy SWC everyone! — Soki
