⠀ -- ❈ -- Name: Hydrangea Gender: He/Him Characteristics: Cheerful, determined, brave, playful, loving Like: Mom, dad, his group, plants, talking to plants, playing, eating Dislike: Extreme heat, no water, snakes, scorpions Backstory: Hydrangea was born in a group of other Desert Vines, his mother had a dream that he would need luck so she named him Hydrangea (hydrangea is a flower representing good luck and fortune). Hydrangea became 10 months old when the storm struck. It was the rainiest storm ever and there was a big flood, the hard desert ground did not soak in the water very well. He got swept away in the flood, being separated from his group. Hours later, he woke up saw an endless desert and also a very small cactus with a FACE. Then the two began their journey to find the group. Story: She saw the cub, almost grown up, struggling through danger, and going somewhere… She snapped out of the dream or was it a vision? She saw the cub at her belly, her only cub, so tiny, helpless. 'I decided, I'll name him Hydrangea, it looks like he'll need some luck.' she thought. . . . Crash! Creak! Boom! "AAAAAAAHHHH, THE STARS HAD CURSED US!" Hydrangea woke up by the chaos of sounds. "Wha..." Suddenly, he was fully awake, there was water puddles and branches and twigs and leaves everywhere. And he was soaked. "What in the stars is happening..." he muttered as he climbed out of his best and ran out to the camp clearing. He gasped. The place that used to be sandy, dry, and hard with almost always a clear sky was now muddy, watery, and full of debris with a dark gray sky of clouds. On the other side of the clearing, was a big flood water and Desert Vines trying to escape or splash the water away. The water was blocking the only exit. It was his first flood of his life. Just then, a flash of lightning split the gray sky, he was blinded for a moment then, the next, he was in the water, splashing for his life, "AAHH! Mom! Help meeeeeee!" , he saw his mother on the land with the other Desert Vine, and then his head was underwater. Before he realized, blackness hugged him. . . . Hydrangea woke up and coughed up so much water that he was surprised it was all in his stomach. "Hi!" something said. He turned towards the sound. "AAAAAAHHHHHH! WHAT ARE YOU!" There, at his nose, was the smallest cactus he'd ever see, and it had a FACE! "Oh yes, I forgot to introduce myself! Well yeah, ok. I'm Cactio! From anywhere." He said. He felt uneasy because mom said don't talk to strangers but Cactio seemed nice, "I'm Hydrangea, from a group of Desert Vines." Cactio asked, "Where's your group now?" "I don't know, I think I was swept away in the flood water during the storm, I think I'm lucky to have survived." Cactio thought for a second then, "Then let's to go find them!" "B-b-but I don't know where they are and you're a cactus, you're stuck here." Cactio looked amused, "Aye, I'm not stuck here you know." then he slid around in the sand. "DO YOU EVEN HAVE ROOTS? HOWWWWW! HAVE I BEEN LIED TO ALL THIS TIME? EVERYONE TOLD ME PLANTS NOT ALIVE AND MOVING! I always wished for a living, talking plant I can talk to, everyone thinks I'm crazy when I talk to plants." Hydrangea said. Cactio answered the questions,"I don't know if I have roots, and there is a living and moving plant right here, in front of you, maybe more than just me, and yay! Your wish was granted!" Hydrangea was silent. Cactio went on,"Anyway, it doesn't matter if you know where your group is, we can go anywhere and everywhere! We'll share our stories and yeah! It would be wonderful! I wanted a friend to talk to and now I finally have one, it's my wish granted too! When we find your group, maybe I can join! Finally a chance of good, adventurous life I always wanted! So what do you think?" Hydrangea thought for a moment then,"Ok, then. Let's go.""Yippeeeeee!" Cactio exclaimed. Then he started saying things but Hydrangea was only half listening. 'Cactio is nice, together we can find my group, where I belong.' Hydrangea thought as they walked across the endless sand, in the beautiful sunset. The setting sun ends the day, but the two friends start a beginning full of hope, determination, danger, and friendship. <-------- that is the sunset I will make this a comic/chapter book series if I win Desert Vine. Thank you for hosting this even if I don't win, I had a lot of fun. All art and coding by me ⠀ -- ❈ --
