Previous chapter: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1073286586 sorry it took so long to get out i had a lot of life stuff going on and this is going to get updated a lot less frequently, however i promise you this will be finished. i am not abandoning this. thank you for being understanding. story: It only took a few minutes for Wilbur to arrive. Fletcher didn’t acknowledge Ember as he left, which wasn’t surprising. Ember met Wilbur outside. “You live here?” Wilbur asked concerned. “Yep” Ember said. “Looks like one of those motels from those clickbait videos about 1-star motels” Wilbur said running his hand across his face. Ember couldn’t lie, that’s what he thought when he first saw it as well. “Except this is very real” Ember said. “Is it at least better on the inside” Wilbur asked. “Depends what you definition of better is” Ember said. Wilbur sighed “Oh god Ember” he muttered before heading to a nearby parked car. Ember followed him and got in the back. And there was Willow and Axel. “I thought you were coming to pick me up” Ember teased. “he cant legally drive” Willow jumped in. “I can to” Wilbur agued. “not legally” Willow pointed out. “why not?” Ember asked. “he never renewed his drivers license after he crashed into a trash bin, so by government law it’s not legal” Willow said. “yeah well the government can legal my-“. “And, that’s enough you two” Axel said cutting Wilbur off. Axel started the car and began driving. “Wow Ember your hair is long” Willow said. Ember ran his hand through his ponytail. “Yeah, I need to get it cut” he said, “it gets everywhere”. “Can I braid it?” Willow asked. “Um, sure” Ember said. “Ember fair warning last time I let her braid my hair it turned out a tangled mess” Wilbur said. “That was years ago, don’t worry Ember I’ve mastered the art of braiding since then” Willow said. “Ok” Ember said a little worried. He turned the back of his head to Willow and let her work. By the time they made it to the house she had finished. Ember ran his hand down the braid. “Hm. Not to bad” he said before stepping out the car. He then showed Wilbur. “Definitely better than when you did my hair” he said. “So can I start braiding your hair again or what?” Willow asked. “Hmm. Let me think… no” Wilbur replied. “Why not?” Willow asked. “I don’t like my hair braided anyways”. Wilbur said.
(continued) When Ember walked in the house he was amazed. When he walked inside, he stood in a foyer to the left was a living room and to the right was a small hallway beside a set of stairs. In front of him was the entrance to the dining room/kitchen. Ember could see the marble counter tops. “You didn’t tell me you were rich” he said. “I wouldn’t call us rich” Wilbur said. “How big is your house”. Ember asked. “Just three floors” Wilbur answered, “And a attic that’s big enough to be a floor its self”. “Were did you get this much money?” Ember asked still in awe. “Well, my mother came from a rich family, which got us started, we work our own jobs which keeps us stable”. Wilbur said. “Last time I checked you’re not working at all Wilbur”. Willow said. Wilbur sighed “I know, I’m trying” he said. “Would you guys like to come eat lunch or let all the food get cold” Axel asked from the kitchen. “Oh yeah coming” Willow and Wilbur said. Ember followed them into the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets were black to contrast to the white counter tops, their fridge was one of those smart refrigerators, and on top of the upper cabinets was some old bottles of soda from the 1980s. but other than that the kitchen was what you’d expect from a regular kitchen. “Is grilled cheese ok for you, Ember” Axel asked. Ember nodded. “You’re not going to cook your famous roasted potatoes for Ember?” Willow asked. “I will, for dinner” Axel replied. “Roasted potatoes?” Ember asked. “Oh, you must try some of Axel’s roasted potatoes, they are really good” Willow said. After lunch Wilbur took Ember up to his room on the second floor. “Sorry” Wilbur said opening the door, “I didn’t get a chance to clean up before you got here”. Wilbur’s room was messy, but not to Ember’s surprise. “It’s fine, I was expecting it to be worse” he said. Ember saw a guitar in the corner of the room. “Do you play?” he asked pointing to it. “A little” Wilbur confessed “I don’t know a lot, though”. “Can you play any songs on it” Ember asked curious. “I can play Riptide by Vance Joy” Wilbur said grabbing his guitar and sitting on his bed. Ember joined him up there as Wilbur started to play, He lightly strummed the guitar as music filled the air around them as Wilbur softly sang. “I was scared of dentist and the dark, I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations”. Ember closed his eyes and let the music sink in, listening to the soft sounds, and he felt safe. He had never felt as safe in his life. Then came the second verse. “there’s this movie that I think you’d like, this guy quits his job and heads to New York City”. The second verse had always stuck out to Ember like a white dot in a void of black. “This cowboy’s running from himself”. He was scared, scared that he wasn’t good enough. And that’s why he ran. Ember waited for Wilbur to finish, “That was great” Ember said opening his eyes. “I don’t know, its ok I guess” Wilbur said.
