Oracles. I hate them. I hate Apollo for them. Not only are they always bad news, but they always come true. They always do. And annoying Zeus always has to take precautions. He’s afraid of the oracles. He's afraid of the prophecies. He makes the rules, and all the gods suffer for it. Who made him king anyways? Maybe these thoughts enter my mind because of my lineage. After all, my father agrees with me. Of course he didn’t raise me. I am adopted. Most of us are. Well, most of what I was supposed to be are. I was supposed to be just like the rest of us, but apparently I am different. Different, in the way Zeus hates. Different in the way a prophecy was supposed to come true. Oh, for the Gods sake. I am not here to complain about Zeus and his pathetic rule. I am here to tell you my tale. For you to understand what I am even talking about. For you to even find out who I really even am. Forgive me as I tell this tale. Thunder and lightning raged outside as the streets flooded and a lady ran with a newborn child. The woman will remain anonymous, but she fled from the presence of a man. He was faster than her, unfortunately for her sake, but she kept running. “There is no safe place between this tie,” she told him as she fled. “You have tricked me into this, and now, Hades, who knows what will happen.” She turned the corner and stopped in her tracks; for the man she was running from now stood in front of her and prevented her from moving. “Let her grow with me.” He told her. “I can keep her from my brother.” The woman shook her sopping head. Her wet hair flung as she shook it. “That is unwise, you know that. The smart thing would be for you to do as your father had done to your siblings.” Tears started streaming down her eyes as she told him, but you couldn’t tell because of the strong downpour. The man held his hand up. “No. I will not do what that traitor did to my siblings. Please, just put her into hiding.” The woman shifted her eyebrows so she looked as though she was angry and sad. “She is too powerful. Zeus will find her. And when he does, he will kill her. You heard the prophecy. If it weren’t for your trickery, she wouldn’t even exist. You basically created the child of the prophecy.” The man looked away as if he felt guilty. “Send her to the demigods.” He said, still not looking at the woman or the child. “Their power will cover hers. If her power is discovered, they will assume she is just a powerful demigod. They will mask her. She will be known as your daughter, and I will be as though I do not exist in her life.” The woman was about to open her mouth to speak, but the man looked at her. “That's an order. I will not do as my father had done. This is the best way for her.” The man looked away, and disappeared in a glowing light. The woman just stood there in the cold rain, which dripped down her blond hair, and she looked at the child. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Atlantis is a hidden Greek city. It is an island of demigods. Shrouded by magic, the humans cannot see it. No, Atlantis is not underwater. It is as I said, an island. Each street is named after a different god or goddess. Each house contains a human; an adoptive parent that knows about the gods, and a demigod. Food grows everywhere in Atlantis, and all food is free, as a gift from Demeter. All demigods under age eighteen have to go to demigod academy; a large school of all grades, not that grades matter, they only teach Greek mythology, powers, and fighting. I live on Athena street, along with all of the other demigods of Athena. Yes, I am the daughter of Athena. I was said to not look like her though. I have dark black hair, and sea blue eyes, with tan skin. They all said I looked more like a daughter of Hades or Poseidon, but no. I am a daughter of Athena.
I know this isn't directly on Percy Jackson, but I wrote this inspired by Percy Jackson. I hope it still counts...
