↣ Chapter 1 I looked around at all the witches and wizards bidding goodbye to their parents. I had just gotten a quick “Goodbye, have fun at school” from my parents. As if I were just going to be gone for a day. I got that they were busy with their jobs, but I wanted to have with my parents what the other students had with their parents. I looked around and found Pixie talking to an older girl with dark brown hair who was probably her best friend, Athena. I just decided to get on the train. Almost everywhere was empty, so I just got into an empty spot. A girl with white and purple hair swung into the compartment and said, “You’re my friend now!” “Uh, what?” I exclaimed, confused. “Stacy! Where’d you go?! I swear, I didn’t mean to!” a voice shouted from outside the compartment. The girl hid next to the door. “Stacy!” the voice shouted again. A girl with golden shining hair glanced in my compartment. I made eye contact with her and she said, "Oh, sorry to bother you." She continued to look in other compartments down the train and call for 'Stacy', who I assumed was the other girl who was hiding in my compartment. The girl sat down and outstretched her arm to me, "I'm Stacy! Nice to meet you! What's your name?" "Er, P-Paige," I stuttered. I took my glasses off to polish them slightly. "You look really pretty without your glasses," Stacy pointed out. "Um.. T-thank you?" I said. "You should keep them off," Stacy said. "Well, I-I-I need them to see...." I said. "Well, I don't think it's really necessary to see right now, we can just talk," Stacy said. "After all, you're my new best friend." I could feel blood rush to my face, "R-really?" No one ever wanted to talk to me. "Of course! I said it earlier, didn't I? Of course if you have your own best friend, I may have to leave," Stacy said. "W-well, I don't h-have any friends," I managed to say. "What?! You gotta be lying! You're really pretty and seem like a nice person!" Stacy said. "R-really?" I asked. "Yeah, do you think I'm lying?" Stacy questioned in a way that showed that she wasn't taking yes for an answer. "N-no! I just, no one ever wants to talk to me, ever," I said. "Well, that's going to change! This'll be your 'Summer I Turned Pretty' except better," Stacy said. "It's not summer, though," I said. "It was a reference to a book and tv series... Have you never heard of 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'?" Stacy asked. "U-um, no..." I said. Oh no, what if she didn't want to be my friend because I didn't know about it? Stacy gasped dramatically, "I am definitely going to introduce 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' to you! It's the best. You see, Belly is the main character, and she's in love with Conrad and has been for a while, but she ends up getting with Cam and..... Am I boring you?" "No!" I answered, I was actually happy that someone was talking to me about something that girls my age normally do, or at least that's what I think we were talking about. I smiled as she continued to ramble on about her book, and I listened intently. I didn't notice that the train started to fill up until some boys asked if they could sit with us. "Yeah, if you keep your mouths shut," Stacy said, rolling her eyes. The boys started conversing while Stacy was talking to me about another book series she loved. "JEEZ! Shut up, would you?!" Stacy snapped. I couldn't tell how the boys were looking at her because I still had my glasses off. One of the boys said smugly, "What? You don't like a bunch of hot boys in your compartment with you?" I put my glasses back on, and one of the boys laughed at me. "Four eyes might just be the best insult Muggles made up," one of the boys said. "And the most fitting for you, Blondie." "Shut your face hole!" Stacy snapped. "How much you wanna bet they're both mudbloods?" one of the three boys whispered, loud enough for us to hear, to his friend. "I-I'm a-actua-" "Oh look, Blondie is stuttering," the tallest of the boys said. "I'm a pureblood," I said quietly. "And anyway, you shouldn't say mudblood, it's offensive to Muggle-borns." "Why should we care, four eyes?" the shorter boy with brown hair said. "Because my parents told me so," I said. "Oh boo-hoo, a daddy's girl," the shortest boy said. "Tell me, who are these precious parents of yours that made you feel special enough to talk against a guy?" "Leave Her Alone!" Stacy said, sternly and angrily. "Um... Jane and Lav Nightshade," I muttered. "Wait, what?" Stacy said, surprised.
"What did poor little Blondie say?" the tallest boy asked, teasingly. "Jane and Lav Nightshade," I said, slightly louder. The boy's eyes widened. The shorter boy with brown hair opened his mouth to speak, then closed it, speechless. 'Why are they acting so.... odd now?' I thought. 'I didn't say anything special.' "And don't bother us for the rest of the ride!" Stacy shouted, smiling triumphantly. ⇍ ⇋ ⇎ ⇌ ⇏ ↣ Next ↕ ↣ Previous ↕ There Is None ↣ First ↕ You're Here ⇎ ↣ Credits ↕ Bing Image Creator ↕ https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/29103418/ ⇎ ↣ Notes ↕ Welcome to the first chapter of 'Turning The Paige'.
