SONG: "last longer" by Rkz hi all! I've got lots stuff going on at school, but I promise I'll have something legit out on scratch that isn't just a glorified art showcase before December rolls around :^) I tried stop motion yesterday, and I was happy how it turned out. This is my second (and more legitimate) attempt at trying to make something using stop motion. I made the entire GIF while I was at school on my downtime, and it was honestly really fun! For those of y'all who really want to know how I made it and how to do something similar (I am speaking to nobody here), I only needed 5 things to make this entire thing: - my phone (used for flashlight, taking photos, and editing on CapCut) - green construction paper (for green screen/chroma key), lined/scrap paper - a transparent container (used to make a makeshift lightbox with the phone flashlight) - scissors - pencil w/ eraser I started with an initial sketch, and then when I made it, I put it over the makeshift lightbox (constructed by shining my phone flashlight inside the container pointing upward). I pretty much then traced over it with the light shining from below providing as an easy way to see the original drawing's outlines/silhouette. Now that I had two similar drawings with slight variation, it cut out a rough outline of them with my scissors and put the two drawings over the green screen and took photos of these drawings. The background was only made by just taking photos of my school's wall lol. I adjusted the photos so that they were warmer and a bit fried for aesthetics. Once I did that, I took the images of the drawings and the background onto CapCut, I overlaid the images over the background and did "remove background" for the drawings over the green screen. Then, I desynced the timing of the new background with the picture of drawings (4 drawing frames each shown for 5 frames and 5 background frames each shown for 4 frames = 20 total frames over a 30fps video = 2/3s of loop). Once I did that, I exported it as a video (not a gif because CapCut only offers 240p for GIFs but up to 4k for video (???)) only to later convert it back to GIF by just using an mp4 to gif converter online (keeping the original quality back to 720p). And there, that's it. Wow, that was a lot. Honestly, though, if you've read through all of this and want to try it yourself, I really do think it's fun! ok enough yapping, that's it from me; good day. <3
