He walked near the edge of the cave, glancing around for any cat that might be watching him. His heart pounded at the thrill of breaking the rules. Breaking their trust. But it was necessary, he had to help those in need. But who would want to be helped by a traitor? Who would accept help from some cat so willing to break the code? Morninglight was hoping hungry Cavernclan cats would. The mice in his mouth were still warm, he had caught the burrowing creatures on the beach, snagging their tails before they disappeared into the holes. A rabbit sagged on his back, slowing his steps. Morninglight hoped they wouldn't think he was stealing prey, maybe he should grab a few bugs, Opalglory had said they hunted those... Morninglight shook his head. No, this was enough for now. This was a trial run, of sorts. He wouldn't even go near the camp, just drop it nearby so a patrol could pick it up. Paintiepride had said something about a hole in the back of the cave. Ah! There it was. He could see a pinprick of light near the far wall of the cave. As Morninglight started his small trek to the hole, he thought of Opalglory. She hadn't said anything about her clan facing hunger or injuries. Maybe she didn't want him to know? Morninglight sighed. Why couldn't she trust him? Hadn't he already said he loved her? Was that not enough? He risked his life just to go and see her and she wouldn't even return the favor. The only time they had met on Seaclan territory was when she was planning to hurt his clan-mates. But this would show her. This would show her his affection, his loyalty, his love. Everything, that's what it would convey. He would betray his clan for the hundredth time. For a cat who said he was insane. The words still stung when he thought about them. Sure, Opalglory had patched it up after... but they still hurt. Morninglight squeezed through the small hole, almost dropping the prey he was carrying. He could see the camp from here. Morninglight decided to drop the prey a few tail lengths from the entrance, hoping his scent wouldn't deter any cats. A few leaves rustled near the entrance and he bolted back to the hole. It was done. If he was going to be insane... Might as well do it thoroughly. Morn spoke to himself quietly as he walked back out of the cave, but it was more to the cat he hoped would hear it. "Now will you like me?"
