The Snow and The Leaves, by Scarlet (@Emma_Kiukiyo) Warning: I'm so sorry, but this is what I'm saying. I will be loud, I will be fighting, until the thing on everybody's mind is, 'What have we done?' I am going to be loud, be vocal. Go ahead, report me for calling out America. Just go right along. I don't care. I do not care what you do. But I will keep fighting, and if that upsets you, then I guess that sucks, because I am going to be honest. Enjoy the rest of your day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is more to what we see that most people know I envy the leaves, but I envy the snow I envy how they can be calm in a place like this Where chaos and destruction beckon with each whim With every step, and every word And every action that seems absurd The sense of panic that increases hurts me But I put on a smile, saying it's just gonna flee I hold myself at a grudge Do I want to change, or do I just plunge Into a deeper hole of darkness then I've already have By simply existing, and that's a small laugh I know I'm not what I say, or do But please understand this when I say this to you People out there are melting, like snow in the summer And all you do is sit there and cower We've seen you before, and we'll see you again But when we do, we'll be fighting again, and again Until your forces slowly crumble, and liberate us all I'm never voting for you in the fall Give us what we held dear back Our freedom, our lives, our own dignity that you lack I am just stating the obvious But you, you're just dead in consciousness But the panic when I hear you is my worst nightmare Only because I know, my voice will soon be just a swear Against you for what you've done But it's not enough... It takes strength to forgive But I don't feel strong enough to listen and give I envy the leaves and I envy the snow If only you could tell how much we know... Signed Sincerely, Scarlet (@Emma_Kiukiyo)
I got the idea for this poem while listening to the grudge by Olivia Rodrigo, and it matched my feelings about all that's going on in America and just... what's going on with me. I am only one person, but one voice is stronger than none. Unfortunately, I know that my voice isn't enough. There's got to be more we can do... more that only WE can showcase. Please just understand when I say, the things we have done are unforgiveable. We are going to struggle, thanks to you know who. So congratulations... all of you. We now are going to have a government that's unapproving of anybody besides White, Christian men who know nothing better than to vote a man with over 30 felony charges and is an offender. I can't believe what we have come to... I will say this again. I'm so sorry, but this is what I'm saying.
