PROLOGUE The dark orange egg started to hatch. Then, out of the cracks, a newborn SkyWing dragonet was born. Next came the dark grey egg. Out of it, one of the most astounding dragonets was born- a NightWing dragonet with foresight powers. The SkyWing dragonet pounced on her. They started playing, as a newborn RainWing hatched from a sparkly egg, followed two minutes later by an egg the colour of ice. A pale yellow dragon stood up and watched them play. “Sandstone, quick. Cast the spell.” Sandstone looked up at a black dragon. “And make sure my daughter is safe. Make sure all of them are safe.” The NightWing said. I will, Blackout.” Sandstone replied. “The war will be over soon.” CHAPTER ONE Four years later... Star looked up at the night sky. She had always dreamed of going and exploring the world. She didn’t know why she hadn’t grown up in the rainforest, or Renewal. All she lived in was what seemed to be a small mountain with a huge crater inside. She lived in the huge crater with her friends- Storm, a SkyWing, Python, a RainWing and Snowball, an IceWing. Why she had grown up with them was also a mystery. She was meant to grow up with her own tribe- but she was now good friends with the other dragonets. The crater was somehow blocked with something invisible. Star suspected animus magic made the invisible border. The crater had scrolls, food, seats, beds- but Star always thought, Is where I should have grown up better than all this? “Hey, Star- dinner!” Storm called from the dining room. It really just had a heap of food and a table. “Coming!” Star replied. They all munched on their food gladly. “Guys- I’m having another vision-” Star suddenly said. “Oh, another one?” Python asked. “You’ve been having a lot lately. How do we even know if they’re real? Star closed her eyes. She saw darkness for a split second- she then saw her and her friends flying up to the top of the crater- she saw a hole that stood out in the invisible border- “Star?” Snowball asked. “What was it about this time?” “I- I saw us flying out of the crater and-” “Do you think we’re going to escape?” Python asked. “Umm… maybe?” Star said unknowingly. ‘CKKRCK KWWH CKWHH’ “What was that?” Storm asked. “I dunno,” Python replied. “It sounded like it came from above.” They looked up. Star and the others saw what looked like a crystal-clear hole that stood out in the magical border- just like in Star’s vision. They all looked at each other. “WAIT!” Python exclaimed. “What? Aren’t we meant to escape or something, like in Star’s vision?” Snowball asked. “Remember the scroll we read last night? The Fourth Prophecy. Look at the last paragraph. It says- The dragonets will escape right after midnight, They will look up and then take flight, The magic shall fail and bring the light, The war is soon to end… -The dragonets will escape right after midnight! It looks later than midnight right now and- They will look up and then take flight. We looked up at the top of the crater and, The magic shall fail and bring the light! The animus magic- it might have a little weak spot!” “Do you think we’re the dragonets of the prophecy?” Snowball asked. “Well- we are an IceWing, RainWing, SkyWing and NightWing, sooo I’d say we are.” Storm replied. Everyone had a shocked look for a split second. Storm spread her rust coloured wings and flew up, with white, green and dark blue wings following her. As they all flew up to the top of the crater, they instantly felt free. They soared down to the ground to sleep. Suddenly, when she fell asleep… Star saw a flash of black. Then she saw Storm- pinning a MudWing down to the ground. Storm raised her hand- but Star saw no more. She woke up with a start. Python and Snowball were looking at her weirdly. “You were moaning and groaning for about half an hour. Somehow Storm slept through it.” Python said quietly. “I had another vision- don’t tell Storm- it was about her, and I think she was about to kill a MudWing.” She looked up at them. Their eyes and mouths were wide open. ‘Well… that probably won’t happen, whatever that was,” Star said sheepishly. Suddenly she heard a whoosh. And then she saw Python on the ground, fast asleep. “Whaa-” Snowball said. Suddenly she fell asleep. Star looked up and saw three dragons flying toward them. Was their night of freedom going to be okay?
