ANIMATION & SCRATCH Scratch is a free block coding website founded in May 2007 to give kids a free outlet to express their creativity. I discovered this website in early 2023 when trying to find something I enjoyed, and thus, my first account was born. At first, I stuck to simple stuff, like Flappy Bird and Whack a Mole, and I was a little discouraged because I was kind of bad at making games. That was until I found the animation page. The animations page is a list of all the trending animations on scratch, it was amazing. Seeing all these professional-looking animations, made by children, was inspiring for me. I thought to myself “ I want to do that!” And so I went on a quest to learn how to animate, looking at how people made their animations. One of the people I started to notice was a scratcher named Mr-Bannable, their animations were stunning and some even flawless, and one thing they all relied on was frames. Little coding was required, just frames that were onion-skinned to look as if it was moving. That was the ypoint in time when I learned the true process of animation. I got straight to work, making an animation. I drew frame after frame and before long I had a rough crudely made animation, but I was proud, prouder than I can ever remember being. It may have been poorly drawn, voiced, and animated but it was mine, all mine. I quickly started making animation after animation, trying to better my skills, until finally, I was confident enough in my talent to start getting serious about it. After that, I just started storyboarding other animations and sharing them to scratch, and I actually got positive feedback on most of them! That day, I learned that following your dreams pays off, and whether sooner or later, if you do what you love, nothing can stop you. https://scratch.mit.edu/users/Mr-Bannable/ Here is the person who inspired me!
