I grew bitter and mad Why’d she have everything I never had? Her laughter sprinkled the air with life But all it did fuel was my cowardly strife “How do you do?” She smiled, beamed with the sun “I’m fine,” I say coldly, and her I did shun For no one so fine had ever shaken my hand A radiant princess and a peasant so bland But I couldn’t escape her, whether charm or curse My cheeks blossom rouge as I write this verse Enchanted and jealous of a face so divine How fortunate for our fates to entwine!
