Varig Flight 820 was a scheduled airline flight, from Galeão Airport, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris-Orly Airport, Paris, France, which suffered an accident on July 11, 1973. The Boeing 707 performed an emergency landing in a field near Orly, due to the presence of smoke in the cabin. The fire and smoke caused the aircraft to crash, resulting in the deaths of 123 people, with 11 survivors (10 crew, 1 passenger).
