Brigadier General A.W.S. Mallaby's car burned in Surabaya, in front of the board that says "Once and forever - The Indonesian republic". The death of this British commander was one of the triggers for the Battle of Surabaya that happened in 10 November 1945. Now, 10th November commemorated as national heroes day.
