blank slate "Nothing. Nothing. NOTHING. What do you mean, you have nothing," Tiara screamed at a cowering Hunter before her. The crown princess might be beautiful, but the moment she walked into the throne room everyday, she became an icy cold storm. It took the smallest little thing to get frostbite and in this case, it was letting the /most wanted prisoner/ escape just a few yards from prison. "Well, you see You Majesty, I wasn't personally responsible for investigating the escape-" The Hunter said timidly while eyeing the guard standing beside the throne. They wouldn't hesitate to end him... "WELL THEN BRING ME THE ONE WHO IS!" Tiara said before suddenly cooling down, her face returning to a neutral "poker face". With that, he fled the throne room and ran straight into me. "Augh, watch it Kaleb," I said while standing up. I rubbed my shoulder for a moment trying to ease the dull pain. "Sorry Pi, I just got out of a meeting with the Frost Princess," he said, referring to Tiara with the name most Hunters had for her. "Yeah, I know. I was watching you cower in fear in the throne room," I said, rolling my eyes to hide the fear in my eyes. I knew exactly who he was coming to get. "She ordered me to bring in the one responsible for the investigation," he said, looking down at the floor guiltily. I didn't even answer. I gave him a small thumbs up before taking a deep breath and trying to flatten my frizzy hair a bit. It wasn't very successful. With nothing left to do to try to stall, I pushed the door and walked into the throne room. "Oh Paige, I should have known I'd be seeing you again," the icy queen said, referring to their last meeting about one of her precious Hunters who seemed to have not received the Sense yet. "Greetings Your Majesty," I said, bowing slightly. "Kaleb tells me of your failure. Not. one. single. clue. How could that happen. The most wanted criminal breaks away from a group of highly trained soldiers who were all found tied to a tree nearly 500 yards down the river. No foot prints, no scents. Care to explain," she said, her face remaining neutral the entire time. Her tone on the other hand, had not. It was almost like a threat, knowing Princess Tiara, it probably was. "There was one clue. A singular blank slate left right in front of the prisoners. We suspect it had said something, but the guards are giving us mixed results. One of them swears on his life that it said 'Until Again Tea' while another 3 say it said 'No Help Coming'," I said, trying to keep my breathing steady. Instead of another of the princess's cruel responses, she growled a curse about a strange creature called a "gas giant" and a "pick-pocketing mouse". She stopped when she realized I was staring and then looked me straight in the eyes. "Bring me Seth you low life mistake of a Hunter. Don't stop until you find him. Don't sleep, don't eat. FIND HIM!" she said, at first staying leveled but ending with her face red. "Yo-your brother? His Maj-" I started to say. "THE OUTLAW SLATE IS NO BROTHER OF MINE. HE IS NO PRINCE EITHER," Tiara screamed at me. My entire body tensed and my eyes widened in shock. /Thump, thump, thump/. My heart felt like it was going to squeeze out of my ear just to get a few rooms away from this screaming match. "-fugitive Sethh...SLATE," I stuttered out trying to finish what I was saying. I could feel the blood moon rising. I had run before Tiara reached the peak of her anger. "Leave, and don't come back unless you have him. Unless it's..." Tiara didn't need to finish the sentence. The gesture one of the guards made it very clear would be the end of me. I bolted out of the room just to fall on my face the second I reached the door. /Thump../ I had to get out fast. Time to find... Traitors? Or, I suppose I should say, secrets? [end lol]
