Misophonia- Contents- -Entry -What is Misophonia? -Triggers -Personal experience ENTRY- Have you ever heard of the word "Misophonia" and wondered what it meant? Or have you had concerns that you have Misophonia? Or maybe you've never heard of all this Misophonia stuff and are now wondering what it is. Well if so, Iv'e arranged a project just for you! WHAT IS MISOPHONIA?- "What is misophonia?" you might ask, well, the short answer is: Misophonia is a neurological condition that leads people who hear specific trigger sound(s) to have a reaction such as, anger and anxiety, these emotions can lead to outbursts of yelling and crying. A person with misophonia can hardly control these emotions, and don't mean to yell or shout. So the next time a person with a panicked face yells at you to stop chewing so loudly, try and be considerate (If you aren't already :3). And the long answer to this question... just search up a Wikipedia article, I'm not typing all of that. TRIGGERS- Triggers are the sounds that trigger the "fight or flight" response with misophonia. Trigger sounds can range from chewing, to a bag rustling, and people can have more than just one trigger, which makes the condition harder to live with. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE- I've had misophonia for about a year now, but some people have had it their whole life. My personal triggers are: Chewing Slurping Forks scraping Bags rustling Pen clicking (Listed worst to fine) I hear at least two of these triggers everyday, making my life full of anxiety. I try and cope with these sounds by generally avoiding them, or trying to distract myself from the sound if possible. Thank you for reading this boring project of mine!
