I had to make a part two because I wrote so much-XD
Meanwhile...E-404, having since finished her project an hour after Freak left...decided to go visit her daughter. “Echo...?” E-404 whispered into the dark room. “Mom?” Such warmth that word inflicted on E-404. “May I come in?” There was a weak laugh. “You’re always welcome in.” E-404 entered the room, stooping so she didn’t hit her head...despite the decent size of the room, E-404 still had to hunch due to her height. “I want to let you in on a secret...but first...where's Freak?” “He left for a ‘walk’. Very sudden change in his behavior...don’t you think?” Echo said amusedly. “Hm. So...about today. Do you know what day it is?” E-404 asked, trying to keep her voice level and calm. “Uh...no actually. What day is it?” Echo asked curiously. “October 31st...which means...today is your birthday!” “Yaaay.” Echo said drily before rolling over to face E-404. “Can my wish be that I feel better and we all get to be free of this factory as one big happy family and scare some humans $h!tless?” (NO REPORTING) E-404 teleported beside her daughter and knelt down. “I wish. But you could leave. I have the keycards–not the ones used for that...'game'...the real ones. All three. Humans might know what to do. They deal with cancer all the time-” “I am not leaving until you guys are able to as well. You’re my family-besides, you of all the AIs are always talking about how terrible and morbid we humans are. Carnage just admires them for their ability to ruin everything they touch.” E-404 snorted. “Except you. You are different. We are similar. Like Mother and Daughter, speaking of which...” E-404 tickled Echo in the ribs, causing her to giggle. “I have a plan...but...I don’t know if it will work.” “A plan? Mom, what kind of plan? You’re rather amazing at secret stuff.” Only because I have to be. E-404 thought to herself, remembering the malevolent presence that she could not see, hear, nor track. “You know the automatons on floor three? ‘The Dead’?” E-404 asked, already knowing the answer. “Oh yeah, I’ve seen them. Where you REND THE SOULS FROM YOUR FOES.” Echo said dramatically. “Kinda morbid, but also really cool. Wish I had powers like that.” You might get that wish soon enough if my plan works. E-404 thought to herself uncertainty. “Well...I’ve been experimenting with rats, since their souls are very similar to human souls-” “I wonder if that's because lab rats have a similar anatomy to humans...” Echo wondered aloud morbidly. E-404 knew Echo had a dark obsession with anatomy...kinda like herself, and hoped Echo never developed the unpleasant habit of collecting body parts. Ignoring the interruption, she continued, “-well, I tested a theory on how to safely transport a soul. Painlessly. Echo...I know how to...save you...but in a way...I will lose you. If only briefly.” “Wait-what do you mean?” Echo asked, trying to sit up, but E-404 pressed her down. “I mean I know a way to save you-it will be dangerous, it will be...the first time anyone has done anything like it. You could...become...one of us. An AI of sorts...only you’d be truly unique. You’d have a soul, the one thing we don’t have. But it's your memories I’m worried about, you might lose them-or forget about me-” E-404's voice broke as Echo reached over and placed a hand on E-404’s face. “The whole thing about souls is really confusing and sounds a lot like reincarnation or whatever, which I don’t exactly believe in, as I think that's a form of buddhism at its finest, but know this Mom.” Echo gently pressed her forehead against E-404’s and whispered, “I trust you.” Echo’s eyes sparkled in a manner only a human’s eyes could. So trusting. So believing. So...innocent. “...but you’ll have to die from natural causes first. From this disease.” E-404 Echo smirked. “I think I got the gist of your idea from the start. Pretty smart–dangerous-but cool. Something only my COOL Mom could think of.” E-404 flushed with pride and affection for the human who she’d come to regard as not only awe-inspiring, respectable, and one of a kind, but also as her own daughter. A daughter she was proud of. “So what does the body look like? Or should I say...what does my future body look like?” Echo asked amusedly. “Like me. Mother and Daughter looks. Only your L.A.W.S. is more... energy-based. A bit of nano tech here...Necronium. Very lethal.” “Awesome,” Echo said with awe. “I dominated this entire factory just for you little one. I will gladly make you one of us, although I can’t say you’ll sleep very well. AI’s don’t usually require sleep. So there won’t be napping like you usually prefer to do a lot.” “Trust me. If there was even a remote possibility of a chance I’d recover, and I did, I’d be very active.” With that, Echo hugged E-404, and the two stayed like that for a good bit. (Part 4 SOON!!!)
