Watch the Stars // Prologue ✧✧✧✧ (Story description) 21 years have passed since the entire cat country of Rulonia was destroyed in a terrible fire that the stars sent. Now, Luna is supposedly the last Rulonian survivor, having survived at the expense of her mother, Firefly. She lives alone, knowing that if anyone finds her, they will kill her--she is Rulonian, after all. However, when she stumbles across a mysterious tomcat that refuses to give his name, things start to change for Luna... and perhaps the entire world of cats. Change, for better or for worse--who knows? ✧✧✧✧ Next: Coming soon! ✧✧✧✧ Warning: Mentions of death ✧✧✧✧ Prologue The fire raged on. The fire that the stars had sent. It wasn't fair, no it wasn't not at all, not to Firefly. No, not with her little kitten, not with the death of her wife, no, it was not fair. And yet, it had happened, and Firefly could do nothing to prevent it. She ran along the uneven ground, occasionally tripping on protruding roots, cursing the stars every time she stumbled. They would find her, catch her, kill her. She ran until she couldn't anymore. Her body ached--she was completely spent. She collapsed on the forest floor, breathing hard. They would find her, catch her, kill her. At least she had left her kitten behind. Her poor, poor kitten. Pawsteps sounded behind her and she forced herself to stand up and run again. But it was too much for her. She slowed, and the pawsteps drew closer. They would find her, catch her, kill her. Did that even matter anymore? The pawsteps arrived and she just glared as dark shapes surrounded her. "You fools," she rasped. "You fell for it." They had found her, they had caught her, and now they would kill her. At least her kitten would survive. *** Far away, inside the ruins of a smoldering castle, a burned kitten stirred. She was in pain, oh so much pain--but she was alive. She didn't have the energy to stand, but it was enough to breathe air... albeit smoke-filled air. Embers and small fires burned around the kitten, but she didn't care. Finally, she fell back asleep, too exhausted and injured to do anything else. ✧✧✧✧ Note: I'm so sorry, but I'm not a very good writer. This might be slightly confusing, so I will summarize what happened: A cat, Firefly's, entire country was burned down--apparently by the "stars". She is being chased by mysterious cats that finally catch and kill her. Meanwhile, her kitten is still alive--though very injured (she was burned in the fires). Additional note: When Firefly mentioned having a wife, that was not a typo. It is completely acceptable for girls to marry girls and boys to marry boys, and I will NOT tolerable discrimination of any sort. Firefly is a lesbian and married another she-cat.
