Songs: By the Pool and Incryption
(Continued from chapter 2) TW Glory maneuvered through the rainforest trees. The sun was setting, causing her vision was getting worse. After a few minutes, she landed on the soft muddy rainforest floor. She stopped for a breath. She could do this. All she needed to do was find the cure without the infected rainwing seeing her. As she walked around the trunks, Glory thought she saw a glimmer of white eyes. She slowly and carefully trudged through the brown slush. A glimpse of purple caught her eye. She whipped her head around. The Benign fruit! The small sickly looking tree only had a few of the pale purple and green leaved fruit. Glory stumbled over to it and broke the stems off of the blue branches and put them into the pouch she had wore earlier. As she ventured on, she went to the tree that had been the last time she had seen the infected rainwing. She took one of the Benign fruit out of her poutch. Huh. Nothing happened. Glory looked around, confused. What’s supposed to happen? Does she have to take down the tree, or eat it herself? she looked down frustrated. Somewhere not far off, she heard a rustling in the trees that sounded like a dragon. Fangs at the ready, she slowly approached the place where she heard the noise. A black dragon came hurtling toward her. “Deathbringer?” The form crashed on top of her, sending her tumbling into the muddy ground. “Deathbringer! You’re supposed to be in the healers hut!” The dragon looked up at her in confusion. Glory gasped at the sight. His eyes were totally blank. His scales had turned into a dull gray. He wasn’t the mate Glory knew. She immediately shoved him off of her and tackled him to the ground, careful not to hurt him. She was right earlier: He was infected. Still holding the Benign fruit in her claws, Glory jammed the fruit inside Deathbringer’s mouth. He choked and thrashed at first, but she was stronger and held him down. Eventually, he gave up and swallowed it up, then fell limp. Slowly, Glory moved off of him. He was totally unconscious. She took off her pouch and put it under Deathbringers wing to hide it. The fruit should do the trick. Glory sighed. She walked back to the Toxinfruit tree and just as she was starting to sit down, the first infected rainwing appeared from the brush. It looked way worse from last time. The ribs were fully growing out, and the goo it was slobbering was more gooey. Glory realized that she had to save them now. She lunged at the Rainwing, seizing its head in her talons and throwing the fruit into its mouth. It roared a wordless sound. Then it fell to the ground. She stepped off of it, as she did with Deathbringer. Great. Now she had two dragons to take over to the healers hut now that she had healed them. More and more infected dragons appeared from the brush. Some more infected than others, while some were just starting to move over. Glory backed away, alarmed. She didn’t want to fight all these dragons. As they closed in on her, she heard two dragons roar from behind her. Deathbringer and Mango were back to their normal state, eyes clear and scales colorful. Mango had returned back to her orange and green self, while Deathbringer had his starry scales back. They both had Benign fruit in their talons, and were leaping to the dragons nearest to them and pinning them down. Glory’s heart warmed. They were saving the tribe. She leaped into the fray. After a few minutes, all the dragons were unconscious heaps on the floor. The two dragons looked at Glory. “We saw that you had been cornered, and we remembered that the fruit helps us. Me and Mango helped cure dragons for you.” Deathbringer finished. Glory tensed. “How are the healers? Did you attack them?” Deathbringer snorted. “No. I snuck out while they were sleeping. Stupid fruit brains. I got infected on the way to help you. I couldn’t leave you vulnerable.” Glory sighed. “Thank you Deathbringer. How are you, Mango?” The orange rainwing was looking gratefully at her. “I am so thankful, Queen Glory. Thank you for saving my life and the other rainwing life.” Glory nodded. “You and them are my tribe. I woul do anything to protect you guys.” Deathbringer looked at her. “Enough with all the sappy talk. Let’s bring the rainwings back.” The End.
