Chapter 4: Fast actions “YOU HAD ME COME ALL THE WAY OUT HERE JUST FOR YOU TO SAY THANK YOU!?” Emerie shook her head in embarrassment realizing how loud she had shouted. Haddock smiled at her, pleased with himself,”Not really,” He had just said, thank you. She knew he meant he was thanking her for finding him on Tantiss but really he could have.. she sighed. She couldn't fight Haddock. “I had an idea,” Emerie rolled her eyes. Any idea from Haddock wasn't going to end well. Nothing ended well in most of his plans but sometimes they did work in absurd ways. “Were you listening?” Emrie shook her head sheepishly. “I was saying, you probably won't like this idea-” he started cautiously. Emerie snorted “When have I ever liked any of your ideas?!” “Fair point. As I was saying. I think we should go back to Tantiss,” Emerie froze. The name just made her scared. She hated that place and for more than a few good reasons. “Why?!” She managed to keep her voice down,”Well?!” She pressed. He rubbed the back of his neck,”Never mind,” “No,” Emerie firmly grabbed him,”Explain before I make you!” He looked nervous like he was stuck. “Well?” “Maybe you missed something?” “Like another clone? We did a thorough check before we left with you,” Emerie pointed out. “You never know,” He said. Emerie folded her arms,”Is this about the half of a ration bar I stole from you?” “ No-wait- you stole that! We are going to talk about that later! I think we guys didn't do a very thorough check for other things beside clones plus you weren't even there,” He had a valid point but Emerie's stomach just flipped at the thought of Tantiss sometimes if she thought about for too long it made a deathly pale. “I'll ask Echo or Rex about it,” She promised. “Echo's not here,” “What?!” “Rex sent him Asteroid and Sparrow on another ‘classified’ mission,” he rolled his eyes. Emerie didn't have time to even guess what this so called ‘classified’ mission was before saying,”But we just got back,” “You know how Rex is,” “But it's not to get more clones,” She finally started on what it could possibly be. “Probably best not to worry about it, Rex hates it when we get stressed because then he does,” “I can't help but worry!” Emerie countered. “Well try not to,” Haddock was being unhelpful as usual,”Besides I've got to take care of R9 and AZI the two most annoying droids in existence,” “Well let me ask Rex about that mission… he is still here right…?” “Yup in his office,” Haddock started towards the other side of the room where two droids buzzed, he was making sure that they were doing their jobs,“I would advise knocking first,” Emerie sighed as she straightened and stared at the door only a few yards away. She really didn't want to do this but something told her it was possibly worth it. Haddock could be right, there could be something useful. Maybe. She crossed towards the door making sure no one was watching her. Biting her lip she raised her hand to knock. She knocked quietly. /Dang it/ she thought probably too quietly. "Come in,” Rex's tired but sturdy voice answered har quiet knock. She sucked in breath as she opened the door then let it out. The room was small. Scratch that. Vey very small. Since the desk and cabinets took up most of the room only about three people could really be in there at a time. The room was mess very unlike what Emerie had grown up to. On Hemlock's messes were considered distractions and evn Hemlock himself managed to keep his office as clean as possible. Things were scattered everywhere and two crooked chairs were positioned across from the desk. Rex sat behind the desk in a actual chair. The items consisted of a holopad, a transmitter and towards the back of the desk A helmet. Two helmets. Rex's and another one Emerie hadn't seen before. It had some orange but mostly blue in all sorts of wacky patterns. Such as a teardrop, zigzag lines, and some strange marking on the top left in the orange part. The marking were white. One was a line then the line went upward to form a half diamond. A full diamond was to the left of the previous marking. Rex caught her staring at it. Rex gazed at it fondly, "That is a story for another time," he turned to her telling her to sit down. She did her stomach flipped / maybe this was a bad idea/ She thought. "Well.." She started cautiously, she hadn't talk to Rex much and well he was basically their leader,"Haddock and I thought maybe we should go on a trip to Tantiss," she cringed, the quickly added,"just to see if there's anything we missed..." Rex sighed,"That's probably a good idea unfortunately I don't think it's worth it. I doubt there's anything there that will help us most the machinery was destroyed, wiped, or there's just not a way to get past the encryption," Emerie nodded slowly. He had a good point. But what if they had missed something. "Maybe another time. Now is not the time," Rex added. Cont. In the notes and credits

Emerie got up and started for the door when Rex said,"Got Haddock for me," "Are you sure..? I mean you seem kinda busy and I didn't want to bother you-" "Emerie I never have enough to do," She darted out of the room. Haddock sent a expecting look. "Well?" He asked,"What was the captain's response?" Emerie stared at him for a few long seconds,"He would rather tell you himself.." "Of course..probably mad at me for suggesting another mission," "How many missions have you proposed," "That's none of your concern kiddo," "I'm sure it isn't," She rolled her eyes. No one was in the main room. Everyone was in the barracks or near the ship. She sat down next to the only other person in the room. Riyo. They were the only people in the. The only people to notice Echo stumbled into the room, bloodstained and beaten.
