Once the world was chaos. Three immortal, omnipotent goddesses lived in that world. They were named Din, Nayru, and Farore. Din: The goddess of power, Din shaped the world into something tangible and touchable Nayru: The goddess of wisdom, Nayru used her mind to give meaning to the world, giving it sense and order. Farore: The goddess of courage, Farore gave the world life. For reasons unknown, they disappeared and left the Triforce behind, a creation with portions of each of their powers. The three pieces of the Triforce could work together or separately, and it had so much power that the three goddesses had to make sure that only a mortal could wield it. The Triforce was entrusted to the goddess Hylia to protect, and one day an evil being named Demise rose and fought with Hylia for the Triforce. She and an army of strong followers fought Demise, where one especially courageous soldier fell wounded in battle. Hylia made sure that the knight's soul would forever find a mortal body to save the kingdom. Hylia was faltering, and she knew she could not hold Demise forever. So, she relinquished her mortal form in return for Demise's imprisonment. She also entrusted a spirit named Fi into the Goddess Sword, the most powerful sword ever to endure in the world.
