Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo appears once in the Star Wars movie series. She is a character in Episode 8: The Last Jedi. Her role in the movie was to take General Leia's place after she was injured. Amilyn tried to save the Resistance. The First Order tracked the Resistance control ship through light speed and was about to defeat them. Amilyn was forced to use the last of the fuel to activate the escape shuttles. All of the crew of the ship was loaded on to the shuttles and tried to fly away to an old Resistance stronghold. They were quickly being demolished by the First Order ships. Amilyn decided to sacrifice herself by using light speed to crash into the First Order control ship. It split in half and she was in the explosion. The last of the Resistance safely arrived at the stronghold.
