Name ✠ Metis Ephai Alvarez Age ✠ 36 Gender ✠ Male Pronouns ✠ He/Him Sexuality ✠ Undefined Planet of Origin ✠ Morcazion Role ✠ King to the Royal Family Appearance ✠ See reference for appearance. Personality ✠ People serve one of three purposes. They’re either by your side, making your profit, or they’re in your way. A court will support you with the right people, careful speeches, and enough wealth to let them drown in their own greed. The population will obey, thrive, feed the economy, and give this wealth if kept fed and entertained. And that is what one uses to fund the fighting against useless traitors. If they cannot be re-fitted into the empire, then they will be terminated in accordance with the laws coinciding with their crimes. That is how an effective, peaceful, and powerful empire is run. And on top of this empire sits the king. Raised like his fathers before him, morals are simply whatever the laws are, and laws are simply the king's word. The people around you will kill you if they see it benefiting them, and your only survival strategy is to convince them you're a benefit to have alive, or bite back a hundred times as hard. Kindness is to be repaid tenfold, injustice a thousand times over. You take what you need, and consider the positives and negatives of what you want. When you’re on top of the world, there is no need for luxury, not when there is power. Do not let luxury corrupt you. Let it provide its comforts and let it serve as a reminder of your value to those who are otherwise blind to raw power when they see it; but do not let it corrupt you. Strengths ✠ Manipulation, fighting, public speaking, leadership, knowledge of several languages, keeping armies constantly alert, leading with conversation, persuasion, and other skills commonly associated with a strong ruler. After all, his entire life was spent preparing and for and carrying out his role as king. Weaknesses ✠ Struggles with a short temper (though he has learned ways to soothe this over the years), cannot truly trust, struggles with showing affection (even during the rare moments when he means it), struggles with overwork, perfectionism, and as a result of this, minor insomnia. He also finds it hard to listen to other points of view, particularly if he hasn’t known or worked with the person for very long. Relationships ✠ Married at 18 to his queen, the marriage served as a political alliance to annex planets said to hold valuable mining assets. However, the queen was executed over a year and a half ago, suspected of protecting her runaway firstborn. He has not since found any interest in marriage, and his kingdom continued running normally. His relationship with his children is rather strained, as the eldest two ran away as young teenagers. While he tends to pay the most attention to the eldest available sibling, he picks out each child’s value and sets them on a course to use it for the benefit of the kingdom. While he does find the… predicament of the eldest children rather embarrassing and annoyed, it doesn’t worry him. No one can evade him nor his soldiers forever. Fears ✠ Losing power to someone who is not a descendant and/or being made a fool of. Ironically, he does not fear death, for it is inevitable as the planet spinning around the sun to change the seasons. Backstory ✠ Metis was the eldest of two other siblings, those being his twin sister and younger brother. Their father was a particularly violent king, and often encouraged fights between his children and favored the winner. Just because Metis thought bloodshed was a messy process didn’t mean he didn’t intend to win these competitions. Over time, he learned how he was meant to see the world. A game. And sometimes, one must make sacrifices. His twin lived to be fifteen before succumbing to injuries during a particularly violent fight, which was disclosed to the public as a simple infection she had refused to let medics treat. His younger brother survived, but ultimately separated himself from the royal family once he reached the age of 18, rumored to be working on one of the inhabited planets. Metis viewed their losses as elimination of competition. When he was crowned king, he was 19, with his father choosing to release the throne to him before death. The details of this are largely unknown and often speculated to be messy at best. But, the galaxy has prospered, and criminal activity sat at an all time low before the rise of the pirates, the first “real” threat Metis has faced since his early days on the throne. Motivation ✠ The expansion and wellbeing of his reign of Nebula. Song ✠ cult leader - KiNG MALA
