This is for @scottishdancer1 Just 1 or 2 paragraphs... XD This is an excerpt from a draft I've been writing. Because it's from a draft, it's largely unedited. I MAY have overdone it. Oh well xD
...I had managed, and I would soon have some carrot slices awaiting my hungry mouth. Not much in comparison to a luxurious roast duck in cherry sauce, but I'd never had much of a taste for that anyways. Besides, I was alone in the Forest, with no protection but a flimsy thatch wall, and a village of Evil hunting me down. Luxurious meals were the least of my worries. It was my decision. After the light, crunchy snack, I made my way up a tree and settled on a low, wide branch. The sun warmed my face and a breeze made its way through the clearing. A sigh escaped my lips and my eyelids threatened to shut. But some movement from the corner of my eye caught my attention. A rustle sounded from below and I anticipated the animal about to make an appearance. Finally, a head poked out. A mouse. My hand covered my mouth as I fought off a laugh. I had been starting to worry. The rodent stared up at me with big, fearful eyes. It’s gray fur twitched, and it made no move. My arm drifted from its hold on the branch and dark mist seeped out of my fingertips. Below, the mouse first twitched. Then, it collapsed and writhed. Pathetic creature, I thought. With a quick jerk of my hand, the mouse began to run in circles with rough movements that weren’t it’s own. A whimper floated up to my ears. And then into my brain. I finally processed what I was doing. My arm flew back to my side. What was I doing? After everything, after rebelling, escaping, finding this place and facing the consequences of all of it. I was still doing Dark Magic. Still going against proper humane ethics. Coming closer to being the monster that my mother and every other person in that village is. It was my decision. I have to make it count. I have to stop.
