Welcome to my first Duolingo picture story! I personally think Duolingo's profile picture creator is really cool, so I thought I'd use it for a picture story! Enjoy! (space, arrows, or tap to navigate) Age 5: Blanche is a young, creative girl who really likes making things out of clay. As a 5-year-old, these consist of misshapen blobs of random colors, but who can resist buying cute little girl's art? Blanche makes a pretty good profit when visiting family. Age 6: When Blanche takes her first Kindergarten visit to the eye doctor, they discover she needs glasses! Blanche does not mind, because they're pink! She really looooves pink, and even wants to dye her hair pink! Mommy says maybe if she saves up (She's got that clay making business, after all!) Age 7: Her clay-making skills get better and better! Soon, she is making creations that you can actually tell what they are. She sells her talents at her school's annual craft fair and makes a truckload of money: over $250 dollars! Maybe she can get that pink hair she's been wanting? Age 8: Yep, she got pink hair with that money she earned! Everyone loves it! It was mostly her dad who convinced her mom, but is her mom inspired by a little free-thinking? *Time Skip* ~~Life is going great~~ Age 10: When Blanche is at a sleepover one night at her friend Rose's house, she gets a call from her Mom. Blanche's Dad never came home from his part-time job at the local art museum and isn't answering his phone. Where could he be? The police are looking for him but no luck yet. Blanche's Mom is so upset that she makes Blanche only wear boring colors, no earrings, and have brown hair. She also has to do all the chores around the house. Blanche is so shocked! Blanche's Mom is also pregnant with a boy. Age 11: Blanche's only friends at school are Rose and Rian, and they are all sort of outsiders. They are all in the after-school chess club and look forward to it every day because they can just be themselves there! Blanche is also in the art club that meets on Fridays, where she, of course, specializes in clay creations. As an 11-year-old, those creations are waaaay better than those of a few years ago. She still grieves her Dad who had never been found, the only piece of evidence being her Dad's car found abandoned on the side of the highway. She finds a little comfort in her new baby brother, Atlas, who looks so much like their Dad. Age 12: One exciting day, Blanche's French teacher announces their class will be taking a trip to France in three weeks! Blanche has always wanted to see the world, she loves French, and her name even means "white" in French! This is the best opportunity ever! While talking one day with her friends one day, Rian, the more daring one, suggests she could just stay in France rather than going back home to her neglecting and grieving mother. Blanche considers cautiously, but agrees. Rian helps her make an excuse for leaving the class trip and staying in France, (staying with her "Aunt", really Rian's older sister Grace), and together they prepare. Rose is going home with the class, and Rian will follow a week or so later once Blanche has settled in with Grace. Age 12 (4 weeks later): Blanche arrived in France with her class, and moving in with Grace went smoothly. Rian left yesterday, and Blanche has settled in fine. Grace, posing as Blanche's guardian, has enrolled her in the local public school. Age 13: Blanche is thriving in France. She has once again dyed her hair pink, and let loose her true style! She still enjoys crafting with clay, and has even formed a Clay Crafts Club at her new school, and made some friends. Age 14: The Clay Crafts club has really taken off. Its 31 members are really excited to showcase their talents at the Clay Market, a clay art, craft, and talent showcase organized by Blanche. There will also be a contest involved, and the winner gets to go to the State Art Show in March! Age 15: After winning both the Clay Market contest, and 2nd place in the State Art Show, Blanche is truly putting her whole self into her clay making. She is even looking into going to the Paris College of Art! She started her own small business called Touche de Couleur, or "Splash of Color". Age 16: Blanche launches her website along with three other of her Clay Crafts Club friends, Adele, Aimee, and Lucas. Together, they grow their small businesses on the website selling clay creations and tools. Blanche also got contacts for the first time! (continue in Notes and Credits)
