The oldest warrior in FlurryClan sprinted through the woods, following a trail of fresh fox scent. Flashes of memories of Mackerelpaw and Starlightsight ran through the warrior’s head, as she shook her head, dispelling the memories. No. She wasn’t going to end up like them! Snap. A large, orange, four-legged creature that reeked of fox appeared in front of Honeysugar, a hostile snarl on its face. Under its paw, lay a broken twig, the source of the snap. Without even a hint of doubt, the honey-coloured cat leapt up onto the fox’s back, unsheathing her claws mid-air. Tremendous strength seemed to run inside the elderly warrior, as she sliced through the vile creature’s flesh with her sharp, sharp claws— was this the sudden surge of energy a mother experienced, fending for her kits? Perhaps this was the very same fox that had slain her first kit, not allowing Mackerelpaw to even learn the territory before moving on to StarClan? Perhaps she was supposed to be there, all those moons ago, protecting her kit with the fierceness of a mother? Perhaps her strength had been conserved for that moment, to protect her long-d3ad kit as if she were still there? She bit down on the fox’s neck, the creature thrashing around in an attempt to escape the warrior. Though it managed to hurt the cat a bit, it was too late— the fox was d3ad. Another fox, scenting eerily similar to the earlier one, emerged from behind the warrior, growling and flattening its ears. Honeysugar turned around, flinching in shock. She recognised that smell. The fox was the very same one that had claimed Starlightsight’s life, the very same one that she had vowed to destroy on the day her kit was sent up to StarClan, barely a warrior. The orange warrior lunged onto the fox, her fox-like tail trailing behind her. How ironic it was, that the very same cat who was born with a tail like that of a fox had so much reason to h@t3 them. She chuckled, almost maniacally, as she clawed the fox’s back, blood trickling from the wounds she caused. The creature howled of pain, and shook its pelt, causing Honeysugar to tumble down with a surprised screech. By now, her pelt was soaked in blood, both hers and the foxes’. She stood back up, flicking her now-red ear as she turned around, expecting to see the fox lunging at her. But it didn’t— for it was d3ad. The victor stood on the two corpses, laughing. She had done it. She had taken revenge on the foxes. She had finally settled the score for her kits! “Mackerelpaw! Starlightsight! I did it! I finally did it! Please… please can you come back to mama now?” Tears flowed from the warrior’s eyes, grief once again filling her shattered heart. “Please?” A fox appeared in front of her, smelling similar to the two she had just slain. It was their mother. The fox slashed across the warrior’s face, before it all went dark. Her kits hadn’t come to her— she had come to her kits.
