Pounding music. Loud laughs and cheers. ⠀ This was all the party was and more. ⠀ Cassie was dancing her heart out along with her friends. She was always invited to these kinds of parties; why wouldn't she be? She may not be the hottest of the bunch, but she was fun. People liked having her around. And Cassie flew to that feeling, of being wanted, like a moth to the flame. It would destroy her in the end, but it was and would be worth it if she got that rush of happiness, of fulfilling her desires. ⠀ So she continued dancing. She continued laughing loudly with her friends. She continued burning her fingers over the fire just for the quick feeling, just to look cool to other people. ⠀ Every time Cassie started doubting herself, she distracted herself. She told her friends a joke or she grabbed another cup of juice or she did anything to take her mind off of the things she was running from. ⠀ Her past would kill her in the end.
