welcome to this session's swc writing competition! our judges for this cycle are @luna-lovegood-lol, @imacreamoo, @mossflower29, and @pages-of-ink. our panelists will be announced shortly <3 there is no set prompt, and all types of writing (including poems, scripts, and non-fiction pieces) are accepted. the only rules are: you may not enter a piece that you have entered in previous SWC writing competitions, and the work must be your own (any entries found to have been plagiarized will be disqualified). it's fine if the piece you're entering was written before this month! you may enter one entry for the main writing category, and one fanfiction entry! the fanfiction category includes any pieces featuring a world/characters made by anyone other than you, retellings, and swc fanfics. the maximum word count for every entry is 2,000 words, no exceptions. additionally, you must be a participant of the current swc session - be that camper or (co)leader - to enter! The SWC Writing Competition Guide: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/642450/?page=1#post-6747223 . • * • ? • * • . how to enter: comment on this project and be sure to include: - the title of the piece - how you published it (discussion forum, project, etc. - it must be published on scratch!) - the word count - a link to the piece - whether you would like to enter the juniors category - for fanfiction entries, please also clarify what fandom(s) it is from! example: there's no plan | forum | 1992 words | https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/769338/?page=1#post-8072630 | n/a | harry potter (marauders), song of achilles, the raven cycle, swc, hozier (you should read this entry it's really silly) (alia and i stayed up till 6am writing it) . • * • ? • * • . winning the writing competition could turn the tables for your cabin! the point values for each award are as follows: juniors: 10,000 honorable mentions: 15,000 judges' cuts: 20,000 best __: 25,000 third place: 35,000 second place: 40,000 first place: 50,000 (*the categories are subject to possible change.) juniors category is for non-fanfiction entries. It is meant to provide a better chance for less experienced writers, although we acknowledge that age does not always reflect skill. entering this category will not reduce your chances of winning any other prize - it's just an extra opportunity to earn points. you are eligible to enter if you are 12 or younger. if you aren't comfortable sharing your age (or age range) online, that's completely fine and you can still enter for all the other categories ^^ points for the FANFICTION category: third: 15,000 second place: 20,000 first place: 25,000 (*subject to change, sometimes fanfiction may have up to a top 5!) collaborative entries are also welcome, both in fanfiction and non-fanfiction! they may not be by more than two people, and if the writers are in different cabins, any points they earn will be split between their cabins. a collaborative entry counts as both writers' entries, and they may not enter a second separate entry. . • * • ? • * • . all entries are due by 11:59pm UTC on november 30th. this is the end of session, so the deadline will not be moved past this date. if you need an extension and have a good reason, please comment on a **JUDGE'S PROFILE BEFORE THE DEADLINE.** not all extension requests may be accepted. best of luck to you all <3 . • * • ? • * • . credits... • judges for judging! • the previous writers of this description, which was mostly copied :) that would be , , (oh hey it's me), caramelize, and more! • thumbnail made on canva by me and alana ()! • all past and present hosts, honoraries, and people who have contributed to swc music - two priceless songs <3 if you know, you know :)
