I do not care that it is not my fault, or a lot of people's fault. This is my country. I have to own up to its actions both past, present, and future. I apologize for all the books that we are going to destroy. I apologize for all the papers and writings that are going to be lost. I apologize to all the people who will have to go through horrific tragedies. I apologize for it all, everything, that I know is about to happen. I can only hope that, with enough time, my nation will see its error, or that you, the people of the rest of the world, will make it see its error. And I hope that, with enough time, you will be able to forgive us for all our wrongs, and that we will be able to forgive ourselves, just like Germany did after everything it did during the Second World War.
