Song Reviews: 11. Gravity Falls Theme Remix: Score: 81/100 Thoughts: When I made this and all the way up to Wonder, I thought this was my best, but I listened back to it after making Wonder while it was rendering... I realised it wasn't as good as I remembered it, I still enjoy it, but Concentration and Venom were better... There's something about the formula of this one that just... Worked... I didn't do too much different to usual, in fact at first I played it painfully safe, but it turned out unique and catchy somehow! Also, best dubstep drop I have done this day! =D 12. Destiny: Score: 65/100 Thoughts: I planned to give this a 48, but listening back to it, it was redeemable, I had bad memories of making this, thinking it felt too forced the drops were unstructured and it was a bit of a mess... Listening back, the drum loops were actually some of my best ever, it was unique, it introduced the dwarf preset as a good bassline synth, was my first completed project to use maximus, was the first of mine to use the fruity DX10 and although that high-pitched sound at the dubstep drop is annoying, it is not as bad as I remembered it to be and so is the actuall dubstep itself... 13. Light-Hearted: Score:76/100 Thoughts: My initial thoughts of this song when I made it was: "It's good, but just good", it had successful polyphony, something I had failed to do on a large scale so far, an okay drop and an okay tune to me at the time... Now I appreciate it much more because although my first impressions of the song were not great, overtime this has held up better then all of them besides Venom and Concentration, it's one that while not as flashy or impressive as GF Theme Remix or as unique or chaotic as Twilight Halls, I never get tired of... It also is the first use of the Gated chord preset, Aural psynapse and the Powertrip sidechain. It is more unique than I remembered it to be, and the drop just works so well, I don't even know why, Underground and Powertrip sidechain is usually a bad combination, but here it simply works, maybe it's the polyphony, maybe it's the variety of moods the instuments give off, it's one of those things you create without thinking about too much, but then you come back to it and realise just how difficult to replicate and how unique it was... 14. The Void Score: 36/100 Thoughts; Oh boy... This one... Y'know how I said that Light-hearted was a lot more unique and hard to replicate than I realised at the time, well this is where the hard to replicate side came into play... This was supposed to be done in the style of Light-hearted but with a much darker tone and with a much more epic drop... Just listening to it I think you can guess how well that went... I really tried to create this epic, orchestral chaotic song and as I made I thought "This will be by far my best, this could be the one that even years of experience later, I'll look back on and think: how did I do that?" But when I put all these loops I was so proud of together they failed! I had an awesome atmospheric pad, the most AMAZING hardcore drums EVER made by me, an awesome chaotic Powertrip melody, panning on every instrument so the sound surrounds you, automation clips everywhere, Bass Wobbles, polyphony Everything... But the Mixing and Mastering failed HORRIBLY! I really tried to do something interesting with maximus here, but I failed... Still, bad as this is, I like it! I know, I just listed so many reasons this FLOPPED, the loops were all fighting for attention and I ended up with a horribly balanced atonal mess, but I like it! I have no idea why, it's like my guilty pleasure, but anyway, I doubt anyone else'lll like it and that is why I gave it a 36... 15. Cloudy Heights: Score: 69/100 Thoughts: This one was easily the hardest one to judge, it gives me such mixed feelings and my opinion of it is constantly changing! This one was highly experimental, first of all, the ostinato contains loads of 2 note chords, a new idea as well as the fact the ostinato is 16 beats this time, not 4! This sounds more professional than my previous works I feel, but professional does not equal good, so is it good? I have no idea... I did spend a lot of time on it, at the time of writing this I am halfway through making song 25 (The Spider Dance Remix) and besides Twilight halls, this one is the one that took the longest to make, Twilight Halls took about 12 hours and This took about 7! So anyway it's really catchy but the drop is sadly a disjointed mess which restricts it from becoming my best sadly... However, I learned a lot making this one... And I'm out of room, Move onto Notes & Credits
Sorry, not enough room for a preview of Vol.3 or the bonus menu I was planning on adding... =/ All made by me in FLS (Fruity Loops Studio) 12.2 demo 16. The Light: Score: 92/100 Thoughts: I think this is my no.1 of all time, it's the most professional sounding and really creates an atmosphere... It isn't as creative as some of my other ones, but still, I regard it as my best because of how professional it sounds! I found an amazing ambient tutorial and this is what it lead to! It could've used some more variety, but I'm still proud of it! 17. Haven: Score 59/100 Thoughts: This had potential but kinda flopped, it was basically supposed to be like the light but more creative and less concerned about volume, but it acted more like an experiment with fruity delay and the appreggiator... It's messy unstructured and doesn't fit well, even though the loops alone sounded great... A real shame, considering the potential and the logic behind it... 18. Wonder: Score:69/100 Thoughts: This another one I just can't keep a consistent opinion of, but there is one thing I can happily say about it, this is how I should've used fruity delay and the appreggiator, I utilized them WAY better here, and the beginning is a contender for the best I've made! The drop is all over the place, I used to hate it, but now I find it intriguing. It's unlike any of my others so I like it still even my Deep space preset doesn't work all too well with chords... 19. Bittersweet: Score:44/100 Thoughts: Oh man... Making this one was NOT fun and I think it shows sadly, I tried to make something of this ostinato five times, but it was like it was cursed or something... I tried making chipstep, crashed. Dubstep, crashed. Techno Computer reset. Then drum 'n' bass, crash. Then this... These were alright to good-ish but this was kinda bad... It sounds a little off at the beginning and the delay doesn't work because of the increasing tempo, but one redeemable thing: As jarring as it is at first, the Powertrip bass sidechain at the second drop actually sounds quite nice... 20. Piece Score: 62/100 Thoughts: This one is hard to judge because it's very different to most of mine as well as the fact my opinion of this one is always changing, but I decided 62 is a fair score... Its individual loops sound nice and the Maximus fade-ins work great, but a lot of the loops, while good don't mix that well, however it doesn't ruin the song so it keeps its score... FOR NOW! >=D< (I changed it, it used to be 69)
