Not Click Bait! this actually works. Hey! Welcome to the ISS orbit Tracker. Use the mouse to zoom in and out and drag around to change your view of the map. Press Spacebar to toggle between following the ISS and looking around freely. Click On "Search for City" to search for your hometown to get more information on where you can see the ISS. When a city is selected it tells you the Altitude (How many degrees it is above the horizon) and Azimuth (0=N,90=E,180=S,270=W) of the ISS from that location Time Controls: ____________________________ j - reverses time l - 10x speed k - 0.1x speed p - pause r - reset to current time t - switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time y - switch between MM/DD and DD/MM formats
(Yes this should work, and should continue to if I update it every few days, though it may be ahead or behind of it's actual trajectory by a few minutes [1~7] depending how old the data is) EDIT: something went wrong with the sprites and they are no longer loading correctly I had to swap them in for worse versions. If I get time I will search up a older version that has the correctly loaded sprite versions. If you remix be careful about sharing your information such as your home town, as it only resets your search when you click the green flag. Thanks to Simple maps for the cities database. https://simplemaps.com/data/world-cities Keep in mind the database uses English names for cities Thanks to NASA and Norad for constantly publishing data for the ISS's current orbit. (You can find a link to the TLE here: https://live.ariss.org/tle/) Thanks to Wikipedia and NASA horizons for the equations vital to this project. Wondering how I made this? Look up "What is a Two-line element set" and "Orbital Elements" to gain a rough understanding. Update Log: 11/29/2024 - Initial Release. 11/29/2024 (Later that night) - Added Time control so you can fast forward and see events in the future and when they take place. 11/30/2024 - Added time zones so the time display is in your current time. (It should automatically detect your time zone too, at least in theory) 12/06/2024- Fixed inaccuracy drift over time, should now be accurate up to a couple weeks away, also fixed the disappearing of the lines near the anti-meridian. 5/19/2025 - Changed display so now tells you if it is real-time 7/11/2025 - Added key bind to change date format fixed bug when searching for city it no longer asks you more than once for the city. added manual coordinates to enter 4/7/2026 - Fixed bug that incorrectly stated there were only 30 days in March that had messed up date calculation for April 5/22/2026 - Changed Map sprite since it was no longer loading Maybe I will eventually turn this into a full on sky watcher, with all the planets and constellations included.
