They live with no meaning and purpose but cling to the hope they will be able to escape. They find ancient runes from the birth of Nythra and even ones from people who would try to escape. Names, pictures and texts were found all over, but it didn't quite connect. Nythra was a place of despair and lost memories, the longer people stayed there, the more their desire to escape fades and the darkness takes over as they try to get out. They find out that they need to go through a series of tasks and complete a well known sacred ritual called the Ascendance, The word Ascendance implies rising above the current state. The Ascendance involved joining both worlds together instead of trying to leave just like that.
