Use wasd to move. Attack the griffins with your fangs. Avoid the griffins mostly though. As the levels progress, you unlock w and s keys.
The cats who left gained courage, so yes that was the last time they moved. Before that, they moved every time something bad happened. Fighting the wolves made them realize that they could deal with problems and didn't need to run when a few foxes came to their land.
