It's been a while... but I have good news! A lot of good news. Toast is back in work. It wasn't a ligament, tendon, or any type of musculoskeletal injury. It was a combination of lyme disease and anaplasmosis (both tick-borne diseases). The swelling in his leg were the diseases presenting themselves via cellulitis, which we figured out when it started oozing. He was on antibiotics for a month, and that completely fixed it. He's now back walking, trotting, cantering, and jumping cross rails. I might have the opportunity to be a working student for a high level dressage rider... but we'll have to see about that one. We also might be moving to a more horse-appropriate property soon. If we don't, we'll be changing a few things where we are now. I've done a lot of learning, changing, and growing as a result of me and Toast's little tick-borne adventure. I also had the opportunity to audit a few clinics and take a handful of professional lessons.
I'm sorry I've been so inactive, I'll try to maintain LRS but no promises ;) Also - who would be interested in my take on the Thoroughbred racing industry? I'm debating sharing it ^^
