Play notes by pressing keys 1-6. Try pressing the keys in different patterns and repeating them (like 1, 5, 4, 3, 1, 5, 4, 3, 1, 5, 4, 3...). Each key shifts the note up or down the major scale by some number of steps (shown by the arrows) and then plays it. The pencil draws a line representing each note, so melodic patterns make visual patterns, too.
