Mr. Sandman from Punch-Out!!’s Title Defense mode cutscene shows him destroying a two-story building, which can be estimated to about ten to twenty tons of force, or 22,400 psi to 44,800 psi. If we use the former, then by calculating how much damage he does with an average hit, then his Dreamland Express, a powerful three part uppercut move, would do twenty tons of force with all three hits, or sixty tons, or 134,400 psi. Super Macho Man, the boxer before Mr. Sandman, has a move called the Super Macho Clothesline, that will instantly knock down Mac if it hits, which is about 40 tons of force, or 89,600 psi. Since the Super Macho Clothesline is a three part attack as well, it totals to three 40 ton attacks for a total of 120 tons of force, or 268,800 psi. Glass Joe, by comparison, does about 2 tons with each hit, or 4,480 psi. For reference, the average human can withstand about 15 psi, a far cry from 134,400 psi or 268,800 psi. To be able to withstand even 4,480 psi, or a Glass Joe attack, would mean you would need to be at least 300 times more durable than the average person. For the Dreamland Express, or 134,400 psi, you would need to be almost 9,000 times as strong, and for the Super Macho Clothesline, or 268,800 psi, you’d need to be 17,920 times stronger than the average person. If we assume that the fighters have relatively similar stamina to Little Mac, that means that Mr. Sandman is about 9,000 times stronger than the average person, and that Super Macho Man is even stronger. But, since Mr. Sandman has beaten Super Macho Man, we can infer that he’s even stronger than him. Mr. Sandman’s average attack, or his wink-tell attack (he winks before attacking), does about a quarter to a fifth of Little Mac’s health bar, which is about 10 tons. Since these attacks come out quite literally in the blink of an eye, the attack comes out in less than a tenth of a second, his attacks have an additional backing force of roughly 45 miles per hour. A 45 mph punch with ten tons of force behind it is a monstrous weapon that could straight-up kill people. The total force is about (using a calculator), 3.10689016 × 109 kg / s3, which is a lot. Thusly, Mr. Sandman could likely reliably beat almost anyone, barring a few, and that’s just his average attack. His Dreamland Express, which we call also assume has roughly the same speed as his average attack, has twice as much force, which means it has about double force, and then tripled. It totals to 1.8641341 × 1010 kg / s^3. Since Mr. Sandman is the final character in the game, it’s safe to assume nobody in the Punch-Out!! rankings is able to defeat him, which means that not only is he strong and fast, but just overall skilled. In all, Mr. Sandman’s average attack has a force of ten tons with a speed of about 45 mph, and has about 9,000 times the average durability of a human.
