I speak for the trees The trees all around The trees leaves up high From the tree roots in the ground All the circles in the body mark generations of growth To the winters survived, moments of love & loath The leaves fallen in autumn excitement And to summers spent beneath each shaded wicket They return to spring, full of joice & renewal And they do it again, as it follows the plurals So please, when you hear me as I speak for the trees Think of all the trees lost, and all that they gave Think of saplings, sprouting from the earth As the spirit of trees all around Is rebirthed I speak for the trees
